'The Acc[oun]t of Mr. Rees Robarts Rees &c. &c.' Dated at Rumney. Beneath is the following note: 'please to enquire of Morgan John of St. Athen Concerning Mr. Wm. Mathews of Rumneys Daughter whome whent to London about 32 year past'. On the dorse are some Welsh words with their meanings.

As unpleasant rumours have reached this place of the disorderly state of the populace of Merthyr he would feel obliged if the addressee would inform him per return of post whether he thinks any outbreak is likely to take place. 'The system now adopted by the chartists seems to be, to attack insulated houses, it is therefore necessary that persons so situated should be on the alert'.

Cyfrinach y Beirdd is at last printed, i.e. the body of the work. The artfulness and cunning of the printer [Job James]. Besides Cyfrinach y Beirdd he has printed the best treatise by far that was ever written on the Northwalian system of versification, more properly the Carmarthen system. Draft. Incomplete.

A letter beginning 'The oldest Unitarian in Wales, and I believe the only one now living of Mr Lindsey's first Congregation in Essex Street, has the presumption to beg the favour of two moments interview with you. I was yesterday evening at the meeting house, but not aware of your attendance there sir. I did not attend in the morning, as I employed my time in viewing a very superb Parochial Chapel (not yet finished) in this Town' ( Rest cut away). [Elsewhere among the papers are some lines of verse 'Affix'd to the door of a superb newly built parochial Chapel, in a Welsh Market Town, by a Devil of a Welsh Bard'].

W. Williams to Mr Taliesin Williams, Glebe land, Merthyr. He will be at Merthyr to accompany the addressee to Morlais on Saturday if the weather be fine. On Wednesday morning he will send the addressee's volume by mail. He hopes the addressee will hear soon from Llandovery. Could he not render the translation easier to himself by dictating to his son?.

Cyfrinach y Beirdd will be out of the press in January next or February at farthest. He intends giving a plate of the genuine Coelbren y Beirdd, and will have to expose Mr W. O. W. Williams, Aberpergwm, to Mr Taliesin Williams, Merthyr. An invitation. By the no. of pages in the addressee's essay on Glyn-neath the expense of printing it might be computed.

After many obstacles Cyfrinach Beirdd Ynys Prydain is in the press at this place, and about a fourth part of it is printed off. A report that a Committee of the Cambrian Society had met and had reversed everything promised by the first Committee. How Mr Rowlands, when the writer left Carmarthen in August 1819, asked if he would leave some of his MSS with him until he (EW) returned, intimating that the addressee had expressed a wish to take the opinion of some of his learned Welsh friends. How the late Rev. Eliezer Williams asked if EW would allow him the perusal of Cyfrinach Beirdd. This he did and desired Mr Rowlands to put it into his hands as soon as the addressee's intentions had been answered. The writer's efforts to recover his books and MSS. Mr Rowlands's neglect of writing to him - by some hints that have been suggested to him by a very respectable clergyman Mr Rowlands intended to become himself the editor and publisher of the Cyfrinach. He (EW) has not the least suspicion that the addressee was aware of any such an intention of Rowlands. Draft. ?Incomplete.

W. Williams to Mr Taliesin Williams, Glebe lands, Merthyr. Discusses sending Mr Roberts's little essay. He hopes the addressee will distinctly point out the Druidical allusions of Kilhwch in his review. Where could he find (?) Pilpay's fables? The Gododin.

Describing himself as 'A Tea sot afflicted with the gout'. Asking the addressee when he heard from Tegid the second. He wishes very much to establish a Bardic Chair on the genuine bardic principles in Dyfed - the thought is originally the addressee's. Three (the addressee and two others) will do to lay the foundation of the little fraternity, exclusive of the Athraw Cadeiriog, for they will force that office on Tegid. Copy.
