A late eighteenth century collection of poetry in the hand of John Morris, Glan'r Afon containing 'carolau', 'cerddi', 'ymddiddanion', etc. in free metres and a few englynion by Hugh Morus, Edward Samuel ('Person Llan-garw Gwyn'), [David Jones] ('Dewi Fardd'), Richard Parry ('or Ddiserth'), Morys ap Robert ('o'r Bala'), Robert Evans ('o blwy Meifod'), Mr Robert Wynn ('Vicar Gwyddelwern'), Owen Gruffydd, Ellis Rowland (Harlech), Matthew Owen ('o Langar'), Mr W. Williams ('Person Llan Aelian yn Rhos'), 'Dai Seion' ('o Gaernarfon'), Mr William Williams [recte Wynn] ('o Langynhafal'), Sion Powel ('o Lansannan'), Edward Richard, [Walter Davies] ('Gwallter Mechain'), Jonathan Hughes, Edward Morris, Lewis Glyn Cothi and David Ellis. Preceding the text are 'englynion' by David Thomas ['Dafydd Ddu Eryri'], David Ellis, [David Jones] ('Dewi Fardd') and Evan Evans ['Ieuan Fardd'] ('Gweinidog Llanllechio' [recte Llanllechid]) and 'Awdl y Nef' by 'Ieuan Fardd ag Offeiriad'; a list of contents of the volume ('Testyn Caniadau'r Llyfr hwn'); an introduction by the scribe, dated at Glan'r Afon, 24 December 1793. The collection was begun probably in 1788.

A collection of 'cerddi', 'carolau', 'penillion', etc. in free metres by Hugh Moris and Rogiar Jones and numerous anonymous poems and scraps of verse. Also included are a rental of chief rents of Cynlleth yr Iarll and a rental of the tithe of Llangadwalader, Denbighshire, both undated, and a medical recipe. A note by Dafydd Marpole in Cwrtmawr MS 225, p. 86 attributes the present manuscript to the last quarter of the seventeenth century. Among later additions to the volume are holograph 'englynion' by Joseph Marpole ('yn llegys'), 1779. The spine is lettered 'Gwaith H. Morys a Roger Jones'.

An imperfect manuscript of poetry and prose compiled by Morrys Oliver, c. 2 May 1685. The poems comprise 'cywyddau', 'englynion' and verses in free metres by Sion Tudur, Rhys Cadwalader, Thomas Lloyd Iangof ('o Penmaen'), Thomas Price ('o blas Iolun'), Edward Morris ('or Perthi Llwydion') and Hugh Llwyd Cynfel, and anonymous poems and fragments. The prose items include 'areithiau' ('Annerch lythur ne araith', etc.) and 'Iachau'r [Achau'r] Cwrw'. There is an inscription in the hand of Mary Richards, Darowen.

A collection of poetry, etc. largely in the hand of David Jones. Examples of the scribe's signatures in the manuscript are dated 1704 and 1708 and the volume may therefore be attributed approximately to this period. It comprises 'carolau', 'cerddi', 'Ymddiddanion' and a 'cywydd' by T. Ed[wards], Hugh Morris, Cad[wala]dr Roberts and Thomas Maurice, together with anonymous poems; a few medical recipes; a table, undated, of the phases of the moon; an account, undated, of monies received [in the Llansilin area]; and a presentment of Edward Jones and Roger Lewis, churchwardens of the parish of Llanarmon mynydd mawr, 1705.

A volume of poetry transcribed by Lewis Owen [Tyddyn y garreg, Dolgellau, Merioneth] during the last quarter of the seventeenth century. It contains 'cywyddau', 'englynion', 'penillion', 'carolau', etc. by Lewis Owen, Rowland Owen, John Vaughan, William Phylyp, Dafydd Nanmor, Robin Du o fôn, John Owen, Owen Gwynedd, Sion Tydder, Bedo Brwynllysg, Jon. Phylip [Siôn Phylip], Hugh Lloyd Cynddel [recte Cynfal], Morys Dwyferch [recte Dwyfech], Dafydd ap Ifan ap Owen, Sion Dafydd Trefor [Syr Dafydd Trefor], John Brwynog, Thomas Pris [Plas Iolyn], Rowland Prys, John Davies ['Siôn Dafydd Las'], Sr. Reese, Sion Parry, Hugh Morris, Oliver Roger, Ellis Wynn, William Hu[m]ffr[eys], Robert Owen and [? Mr [Thomas] Richards, Darowen), and 'englynion' by Sion Tudur (in the hand of Mary Richards [Darowen]) and Wa[l]ter Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'].

Two volumes in the hand of Mary Richards, Darowen consisting largely of transcripts of poetry from manuscripts then in the Llansilin Collection (e.g. Cwrtmawr MSS 204, 206-7, 227, 238, 242-3). Other transcripts in the collection are items from 'copy o un [o] lyfrau Maesglase, Mallwyd', including 'Merddin ai dywaid', 'Taliesin ai traethoedd', Merddin ai Traethodd', 'Taliesin ai Traethodd', and 'Merddin a Gwenddydd'. The manuscript is undoubtedly 'Ysgriflyfr Carndochan', which Owen Jones ('Manoethwy') cites as the original from which he made transcripts in Cwrtmawr MSS 400 and 515. An incomplete list of contents appears in Cwrtmawr MS 317, p. 265 in the hand of Canon Robert Williams, Rhydycroesau, and a note on the fly-leaf of the present manuscript explains that Robert Williams obtained the volume from the library of Daniel Silvan Evans. The spine is lettered 'Llyfr Cywyddau'.

Amongst the later marginalia is a copy of an undated (1 May [ ]) notice to let Ty'n Bedw, parish of Llangadfan, Montgomeryshire. The spine is lettered 'Kywyddau, Achau, Compot Manuel'.

L.' to record 'Adnotationes quaedam admodum miscellaniae', including a list of titles of Welsh airs, a list of Welsh expressions and their English equivalents and notes on the accidence of the Welsh language. Used as the upper end paper is a fragment of an 18th century answer of Christopher Welcker the elder, one of the defendants to the bill of complaint of Wm. Sherlock and Frances, his wife, and James Blundell and Mary, his wife, complainants.

A manuscript consisting largely of transcripts and memoranda by Mary Richards and Thomas Richards of Darowen. The volume appears originally to have been used as an account book of receipts and disbursements in respect of the farms of Llwyn, Cafnmaelen and Byrthlwydd [parish of Dolgellau, Merioneth], 1799-1802, and also to record biographies of [James Crichton, 'The Admirable'], Sir Francis Walsingham, Sir Francis Drake and William Cecil, Lord Burghley. The volume was largely compiled during the years 1855-60 but there are some later entries dated to 1871. A volume originally used fairly extensively by Thomas Richards, Darowen as a rentroll of tithes set in the parish of Darowen, 1824-31. Beginning at the end, also in the hand of Thomas Richards, are a note from the Shrewsbury Chronicle, 1829, on the 'Rearing of Apple Trees'; medical, veterinary and household recipes; and accounts of receipts and disbursements (tithes, road rates, rents, etc.) of Thomas Richards, 1827-31. Among the insets and items mounted on the inside covers are a letter from J. Topham to [ ], 1786 (Mr Stocks's donation); an undated petition by William Davies, late of Cemmes, Llanegrin, Merioneth for a charitable contribution from Price Jones, Cyfronydd (petitioner claims that Cemmes, now in Pryce Jones's possession, was previously the property of his own father John Davies); and Hirnant rent accounts between T[homas] Richards and Captain Gwynne, 1816-18. One of the sources quoted by Mary Richards is a manuscript of Sir Thomas Llwyd, 'Person Cemes, Sir Drefaldwyn'. The outside upper cover is inscribed '1825 Tithe Book'.
