Title deeds, letters and legal papers relating to a dispute between Walter Pryse on behalf of George Lewis Langton, and John Philipps of Kilgetty, 1726-1743, concerning the title to the Paddock, the Old Slate House, etc. near the beach at Saundersfoot in the parish of St Issells. The papers include drafts and copies of earlier leases, deeds and disputes, 1622-1683. The letters are addressed to the Lewis family of Hurst and Coedmor, and to Walter Pryse in Holborn, London, mainly from lawyers and agents, 1701-1743; one of them justifies an attempted salvage from a shipwreck at Freshwater East, 1729. There are statements of the claims on both sides, describing the construction of a quay by Walter Pryse, with a pictorial map of the area in dispute [1726]; evidence of boundaries and rights in the lordships of Coydrath and East and West Pembroke, and a copy of the chief rent roll for the latter, 1738

‘Security’ (mortgage) for £9412 by Sir Pryse Pryse to Col John Lewes, Henry Charles Fryer and Col. Edward Lewis Peyse, 1876, on lands in Wales not comprised in the family settlement of 1846, endorsed with a release back to Sir Pryse Pryse, 1879, and two further charges for securing additional sums to enable the transfer of mortgages on Cwmsymlog Ganol and Cwmsymlog Issa, 1877-1878.

Papers relating mainly to the election for the Cardigan Boroughs in which Pryse Pryse proposed Herbert Evans of Highmead against John Vaughan of Trawsgoed, 1812. The file contains printed notices of the state of the poll, resolutions of a meeting at Adpar in support of Col. Vaughan, election propaganda and the sheriff’s public proclamation of the election in the shire hall at Cardigan; part of a burgess list from Nancwnlle; letters of support to Mrs Pryse from Mrs Gilbertson of Dolyclettwr, Mrs Bonsall, and others; a letter to Edward Loveden Loveden of Buscot Park from Samuel Sellwood about the Lampeter books and questioning the rights of mayors and freemen; and the state of the poll in the Pembrokeshire election, 1812

Large original parcel containing smaller packets of supplemental accounts, bills and receipts, mainly for building materials and labour at various properties belonging to the Gogerddan estate, including the Gogerddan gardener’s house and sheds, Pempompren Ucha, Clarach Schools, Blaendyffryn, Glan y mor, Cwmbwa house, Brysgaga, Cwmere buildings, Brynllys, Tynyrabbey, Henhafod, Penrhyn-coch farm, Henllys house, Cefncoch implement house and wool loft, Cynnull Mawr, Pwllglas, Tynohir, Glanyravon. Ystradeinion, Bryngwyn Isa, Bryngwyn Canol, Old Cwm (Cwmcynfelyn), Rhydypennau, Gloucester Hall and cow house, Lletty Llwyd, Brwyno, Bryngwyn Mawr, Tynyffynnon kennels, Bronygof and many other named properties, 1869-1881. Other items of interest are bills for the funeral expenses for the late James Lloyd, 1877; an account of the tithe rent charge, 1880; drainage at Tynllwyn, Neuadd March and Henhafod, 1871-1880, and at Lodge Marsh, 1871-1877; surveys and valuations by George Jones and James Green, 1880
