Dated: 24th Nov., 6 Henry VIII [1514]. Three small signets, red wax: 1. A cinquefoil rose (12mm). 2. A merchant’s mark, incorporating the initial letters T. b. (13mm). 3. A pelican in her piety that is, standing with wings expanded over her nest, and vulning her breast, the three nestlings feeding on the gouttes-de-sang: this is a type of Christ and the Church (14mm).

Confirmation by Thomas Turbervile and Jankin ap John, gentlemen, to Resius Maunceill, esq., of a m. in the Castle Baillie in Kibouur, and lands, etc., in the same, which they had recovered against the said Resius and Elienor his wife. Lease by Rice Mauncell, esq., lord of Oxwich, to Thomas Asse and Jankyn David, husbandman, of a weir-place upon Oxwich sand, [‘A were plasse apon’ Oxmoche sonde.’] for fourscore years, at an annual rent of sixteen pence, and a heriot of two shillings. Acquittance by Sir Mathie Cradock, kt, for a charge by him on the manor of Oxwich of £153 6s. 8d., which he had paid to John Buttiller, seer, for the marriage of Alice Maunxell, daughter of Edith Maunxell of Oxwich Manor, to John Buttiler, junr., son of the said John, for one hundred marks received of Rice Maunxell, son and heir of Jankyn Maunxell and Edith his wife, which he had paid to Watkyn’ Vachan’, of Tretour’, for a deed of release of the manor of Penrice and Porteynon, etc., in Gower, for £500 for the marriage of the said Rice; and for four hundred marks for the marriage of Elenour, late wife of the said Rice. Marriage Contract between Sir Ryce Manxell of Bowpere co. Glam., kt, and John Dawebrigecourt of Wolston, Warwickshire, Esqre., and Roger Myenours, of Wyndlehill, co. Derby, Esqre., wherein a marriage is agreed between the said Sir Ryce and Cecill’, daughter of the said John, Sir Ryce undertaking to settle an estate of £40 yearly upon the said Cecill’ for life out of his estates in the lordship of Gower, the said John and Roger, and others, being trustees for the same; the trustees after the death of the said Cecill’ to receive 400 marks to purchase lands and tenements for the use of the issue of the marriage; and the said Sir Ryce to be paid 300 marks.
