Llangynfelyn title deeds

Title deeds of houses and lands in the parish of Llangynfelyn, 1541-1898. The earliest file concerns miscellaneous properties, 1541-1760. The subsequent files contain deeds relating to Ty yn y Ddole, Llain Galed and Tuy yn y Berth, 1546-1597; Llannerch Goch, 1546-1671; Penryn Madog and [part of] Parke Newydd in Llannerch Goch, 1557-1597; Gwyddynys, 1562-1659; Lodge Park or Parke Bodvage and [another part of] Parke Newydd, 1569-1661; Tre’r-ddol, 1816-1898; and Tynllwyn Farm and Morfa Trwyn Buarth, etc., 1881-1886. The earlier files record acquisitions by John Pryse and Sir Richard Pryse in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Other names include the families of Jankyn or Jenkin, Phellippe or Phillips of Aberystwyth, Vaughan of Llanfihangel Genau’r-glyn and Guttyn or Gutto.

Pembrokeshire title deeds (parishes)

Title deeds for properties in the parishes of Amroth, Crunwear, Hodgeston, Ludchurch, St Issells, Tenby and elsewhere in Pembrokeshire, 1542-1874. The properties include The Hill and Plas Bronielake in Crunwear, Trevane in Tenby, Upper Trelissey in Amroth, and Hopshill, St Issells. Many of the deeds involve Nicholas Lewes (Lewis) of Hean Castle, James Lewes and John Lewes of Coedmor, and Lewis Pryse of Abernantbychan and Woodstock. Other names include the Griffith family of Amroth and Barlow of Slebech. Several of the leases were made to the Barzey family of Tenby, usually reserving rights of coal mining and timber to the estate owners. One file contains deeds and papers proving the title of Pryse Pryse to the advowson of the rectory of Hodgeston, 1657-1729. Other files relate to the founding of New Hedges Church of England School, Tenby, 1852, and a conveyance to the Pembroke and Tenby Railway Company, 1865

Dolgellau - Llanymawddwy

Title deeds of houses and lands relating to the Mathafarn estate in the parishes of Dolgella and Llanelltud, 1544-1675, Llanfihangel-y-Pennant, 1699/1700, and Llanfor, Llangywer, Llanycil and Llanymawddwy, 1703/4.

Main estate title deeds

Title deeds of the estate of Main or Tre Main in the parish of Meifod, Montgomeryshire, 1545-1684. The files relate to miscellaneous arable lands, and to various houses and lands named Maes y Bont, Maes y Tir Newydd, Gro Meredith Lloyd, The Long Leasow, Y Ty yn y Tyr Calch, Y Wyg, Y Borva Newydd, and the capital messuage of Main, with Y Ty yn y Cwm and another unnamed messuage. The deeds show that estate was purchased by Richard Hunt, a Shrewsbury draper, between 1609 and 1617, and sold by his descendants to Owen Williams of Ystumcolwyn, Montgomeryshire, in 1676. Prior to these purchases, former owners of the properties included the descendants of John Goch, Ieuan ap Me’dd ap Ll’n ap Tuder, Edward ap David ap Ll’n ap Tuder, David Lloyd ap John ap Ieuan ap Owen, Howell ap William, Me’dd David ap Howell and his brothers, Owen Lloyd, Owen David Lloyd and William Benyon. The deeds also show the survival of the mediaeval field system of strips or parcels of land within larger fields at the start of the seventeenth century.

Pryse family deeds and settlements

Family deeds and settlements of the Pryse family of Gogerddan, their antecedents and those related to them by marriage, 1549-1932. The individuals concerned are: Richard ap Rees and John Pryse, 1549-1601; Sir Richard Pryse (d. 1623) and family, 1600-1631; Sir Richard Pryse (d. 1651) and family, 1622-1645; Dame Gwen Pryse, 1623-1624; Sir Richard Pryse (d. 1675), 1653-1663; Thomas Pryse and Edward Pryse, 1663-1696; John Pryse of Glanmeryn and Thomas Pryse of Gogerddan, 1711-1739; Anne Pryse of Aberllefenni, 1733; Lewis Pryse, 1745-1777; Edward Loveden Loveden, 1778-1822; Pryse Pryse and family, 1792-1845; Pryse Loveden and family, 1849-1851; Sir Pryse Pryse, 1860-1907; and Hebert William Pryse and Sir Lewes Thomas Loveden Pryse, 1921-1932. One file relates to the family heirlooms designated for settlement, 1900.

Rentals: first series

Rentals of the co. Brec. estate, some of which, however, only relate to a portion of the estate. There are substantial gaps in this series which can, to some extent be supplemented by consulting the rentals in BM1.

Penegoes and Machynlleth, and Trefeglwys

Title deeds of houses and lands in the parish of Penegoes. 1558-1674, in the combined parishes of Penegoes and Machynlleth, 1606-1695, and in Trefeglwys, 1664-1666. The river Dyfi (Dovey) appears consistently in the boundary clauses. The deeds record several purchases in Penegoes and Machynlleth by the Pughe family of Mathafarn, notably Cae Vownog, Gweirglodd Ledver, Y Borva Las, etc., from Oliver Herbert of Dolforgan, 1634; Kaethgwin or Kae Quin, Llyast Havod Ffraidd, Kae Glas yn Hen Bont, etc., from Richard Danson of St Michaels, Lancaster, 1694/5; and Dolbachoe in Trefeglwys from John Gwyn, 1664-1666. Other personal names include the Pughe family of Dolyrafonddu, Llanwrin, and Ll'n ap Res ap Ieuan ap Gwilkok [of Machynlleth]. The series also contains a lease by Sir Roger Owen of Condover, Salop, of the market tolls of Machynlleth, Melyn y Penrose and fishing rights in the river Dyfi, 1607.

The Priory, Cardigan, estate papers and title deeds

Miscelllaneous deeds and documents of the Priory estate, Cardigan, which was sold to Gogerddan by Edward Phillips in 1705, and was occupied by the Picton, Lloyd, Jones and Thomas families. It was conveyed to Albany Wallis in trust for John Pughe Pryse, 1770, and afterwards sold by the latter’s mother, Maria Charlotta Lloyd, to Thomas Johnes, 1774., The series comprises letters, [c. 1560], 1707, deeds, 1651-1721, an agreement to discharge debts, 1705-1708, a survey [c. 1705], rentals [1705x1774], and accounts and receipts, [post-1744] -1766.
