Original file containing correspondence relating to the donation of the Kite Committee's collections of egg shells to the National Museum of Wales, including reference to a magistrate's suggestion that two kite's eggs confiscated in Liverpool should go to Ceredigion Museum, 1981; subsequent donations, 1982-1989; research by Adrian Fowles, NCC, into the insects in kite nest faunas, 1989; a request by the Faunal Remains Unit of Southampton University Archaeology Department for kite bones, 1989-1992 ; an analysis of the components of a kite's nest, 1990; kite carcasses sent to the English Heritage Ancient Monuments Laboratory, including a copy of 'Ancient Monuments Laboratory report 22/99, A list of mammal & bird skeletons in the comparative collection of the 'Ancient Monuments Laboratory London', 1991; an analysis of clutch sizes, brood sizes, nest robberies and distribution by 10km grid squares, 1946-1997; details of unhatched etc. eggs collected, 1990-1998; and a note that all remaining kite egg shells have been sent to the National Museum, 2016.

Original file comprising a copy of the 'The kite in Wales, 1970', the final issue of the annual report produced by Col Morrey Salmon for the old kite group, with an epilogue by Capt. Vaughan, and annual breeding season reports produced by Peter Davis, 1971-1989, including several typescripts, notes and revisions. The annual report to the Kite Committee comprised two sections: a single page confidential 'The kite (M.milvus) in Wales, <year>', which could be used publically once the breeding season was over, and a strictly confidential nest-by-nest 'Red kite breeding report for <year>'.

Original file of reports of sightings and observations for 1979-1984 and related papers, including discussion of M. J. Dawson's book 'The red kite' (1983), which gives grid references of current and historical kite nests.

Original file of reports of dead kites, post mortems and analyses for poisons and toxic chemicals, mainly 1998-1999, with one report for each of 2005 and for 2006. Also publications relating to pesticide poisoning and illegal poisoning of wildlife.

Kite Committee papers,

Original file of Peter Davis's copies of Kite Committee papers, including minutes of the West Wales Field Society, 1950; annual reports on the kite's status and nesting season, 1950-1970; notes on, minutes of and reports to Kite Committee meetings, 1959-1966. Several of the papers, containing locations of nests then in use, are marked confidential.

Kite annual breeding reports,

Original file of yearly breeding season reports, 1990-1999, many with the confidential section 2 containing the locations and success of each known breeding pair. Peter Davis compiled the report to the Kite Committe at the end of the breeding season, although there is frequently a revised report for the record in the light of further information. Also notes, drafts and circulation lists. Also site lists for 2000 and 2003, and Peter Davis's Welsh Kite Watchers Group nest record sheets for nests in the Nebo - Ffos-y-ffin - Felinfach area, co. Card., 2004.

Red Kite Country,

Original file of letters, memoranda, papers and publications relating to the Welsh Office / Development Board for Rural Wales / RSPB / Welsh Tourist Board initiative to develop the Spotting the Red Kite (the Red Kite Trail) project, the name being changed c.Feb. 1994 to Red Kite Country. A letter in the general correspondence file for 1990-2011 (E 32 below) mentions that the initiative expired in 1997.

Original file of reports of and notes on ringed or tagged dead kites, including the recovery of a ringed female (HT27208, ringed June 1988, found dead May 2012), probably the oldest recorded Welsh kite, displacing HW08418, a male that died at Tregaron in March 1992, a month younger than this new bird, 2012; and the recovery of HT25680, a male ringed at Talsarn, June 1990, found dead Aber-arth, at 23.5 years the third oldest kite known by ringing, Jan. 2014.
