Accounts for land revenues of South Wales 1736-1758

Seven vellum documents, 1736-1758, comprising accounts for land revenues to Sir Henry Fox, Lord Holland and Richard Bateman, Receivers General of the King’s Revenues in South Wales. Each multi-page document lists the annual land revenues from the counties of Pembroke, Carmarthen, Cardigan, Brecon, Radnor, Glamorgan and Monmouth in South Wales. Signed by Lt Gen. Thomas Farrington MP of Chislehurst, Auditor of the Land Revenues for Wales, 1739-1750, and subsequently Thomas Wynn, 1761. Declared before successive Chancellors of the Exchequer, Robert Walpole, Henry Pelham and William Barrington.

Agreement for building a chancel, transept, tower and spire, and other additions to the church called St Thomas, recently erected in the hamlet of St Thomas, Swansea, according to plans, drawings and specifications prepared by Messrs Nicholson & Son of Hereford. Agreement For Granting A Lease for 21 years at an annual rent of £4 of a leat or watercourse to be made by 2, extending in one continous line through the fields of 1 called Cae Lloi, Cae Newydd and Cae Lluestyrochor being part and parcel of the m. called Cwmergyr in p. Llanbadarn Fawr, co. Card. for the purpose of working water wheels and other engines and machinery or for any other purpose connected with the use and enjoyment of the mines of 2; covenants by 2 to keep the leat in good repair, to prevent it from overflowing, to fill it in if required by 1 at the end or sooner determination of the said term with earth or rubbish to the level of the adjoining ground, to make good bridges or culverts for the safe passage across of man and beast and to keep the same in good repair, to make compensation for any damage done to the lands of 1 or his tenants by water overflowing or by the deposit of earth dug from the channel during cleaning or repair work; covenants by 1 to allow 2 to deposit earth removed during cleaning or repairing along the sides of the channel with as little damage as possible to the adjoining lands, to conduct along the said leet all waters necessary for working the water wheels and other machinery, and to allow a right of way to 2, their agents and employees across and along the leat and the banks thereof.

Flint, for 31 years; covenants relating to damages at Manor House Farm and Horse Shoe Farm and elsewhere, to repairs to the Cop or embankment between the lands of the reversioners and the River Dee, and to building railway sidings to connect with the Chester and Holyhead Railway.
