Trusts,

Papers relating to several family and non-family trusts administered by and for Richard Gwynne, Sir John Wynn, Owen Vaughan and others, 1596, 1606, 1675, Sir Richard Wynn, 1630-1658, Sir John Wynn (2), 1665-1698, and Sir William Williams and Sir Watkin Williams Wynn, 1670-1786 . The family trusts here are specific and separate from those incorporated into the family settlements and wills (sections YA and YB). The types of documents involved in the trusts include deeds, wills, settlements, agreements and wardship papers.

Oswestry and Llanforda estate administration papers,

Papers deriving from administration of the Oswestry and Llanforda estates in the county of Salop, successively in the hands of Sir William Williams and the Williams Wynn family. They comprise expired tenancy agreements and associated papers, 1855-1911; papers relating to property purchases, 1677-1678, 1899-1905; and miscellaneous estate administration papers, 1722-1884.

Legal papers, Vaughan family of LLwydiarth,

Legal papers from disputes of the Vaughan family of Llwydiarth with various adversaries, 1600-1716. The series comprise: miscellaneous cases of the Vaughan family, 1600-1664; disputes of Vaughan family and the Price family over the title to properties in Eglwysegl, Dinbren and Trefor Isaf, 1604-1664; disputes about the Llwydiarth estates, involving Sir Robert Vaughan and Edward Vaughan, 1616-1669; disputes about the Llwydiarth estates, involving Charles Salesbury and other trustees of Edward Vaughan, 1650-1669; disputes about the Llwydiarth estates, involving William and Gabriel Salesbury and other trustees of Edward Vaughan, 1666-1675; and disputes over Llwydiarth and other estates involving Edward Vaughan, 1666-1716. Several of the more substantial cases are interrelated, continuing from one generation of estate owners and trustees to the next, e.g. the claims by Magdalen and Katherine Salesbury, and Sir Charles Lloyd and his sons (alias Vaughan).

Wales and England, misc. title deeds,

Title deeds deriving from various estates in Wales and England, which were not part of the main Wynnstay estates. The seven series contain deeds from Wales, 1598-1886; Shrewsbury, 1564-1792; miscellaneous Shropshire parishes, [pre-1290], 1418, 1588-1809; Lincolnshire, 1635-1653, 1814; Gray’s Inn chambers, London, 1623-1694; London and Middlesex, 1634-1785; and miscellaneous English counties, 1348, 1592-1807. The Lincolnshire and London deeds derive from the professional and private interests of Sir Richard Wynn of Gwydir and Sir William Williams of Glascoed. A few of the other deeds concern Sir Richard Wynn and Sir Watkin Williams Wynn but the provenance of the majority has not been discovered.

Arbitration awards,

Arbitration awards and related papers involving various individuals and familied in Shropshire and North Wales, 1449-1710. See series level for further description.

Much Wenlock manorial records,

Records of the manorial court of Much Wenlock, comprising a near-complete series of court leet presentments, 1786-1857; a small number of suit rolls, 1770-1787, 1823-1857 (with gaps); and miscellaneous manorial records, 1614, 1669-1677, 1821.

Estate rentals pre-1772

Estate rentals pre-1772. See also Wynnstay MS 86 (described elsewhere in this hierarchical structure with the other Wynnstay MSS) for early accounts and rentals (1300/1 onwards). Since this rental was deposited at NLW some years before the arrival of the main series of rentals and has been known as Wynnstay MS 86 for many years, it was deemed best not to alter this reference number, and not to include the volume in the general series of Wynnstay Rentals.
