Original envelope containing letters to Capt. Edward Lewis Pryse and copies of his replies to his brother John, Matthew Davies of Penpompren, Matthew D. Williams of Cwmcynfelyn, Edward Davies and Mrs Davies of Tanybwlch, and others, 1852-1860. Most of the letters discuss the assertion of Pryse Loveden’r rights as lord of the manor of Genau’r-glyn, in response to landowners’ complaints about trespasses committed by mining prospectors on the farms of Blaennant, Doleruddlan, Lluestgotta and Cyneiniog, and about encroachments on the sheepwalks. The file also contains notes by Capt. Pryse and an information of intrusion commenced in the Court of the Exchequer by the Attorney General representing the Crown against Pryse Pryse and the family trustees, concerning Cwmsymlog mine, asserted by the Crown to be in the royal manor of Perfedd (Watermark 1862).
