A volume almost entirely in the hand of Mary Richards, Darowen largely containing poetry ('cywyddau', 'englynion', etc.) by Rowland Williams, Sion Philip, Guttun Owen, William Philip, Dr John Kent, Dafydd ap E[dmwnt], Edmwnt Prys, Robin Ddu o Fon, James Dwnid [recte Dwnn], Thom. Williams (1817), Iolo Goch, Ifan Tew Brydydd, Taliesin, Davydd ap Gwilim, Huw Arwystl, Hugh Morris, Edward Morris, Walter Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'], [David Richards, 'Dewi Silin'], Robert Parry (Eglwys fach), David Rowlands (Plas Isa, Dolgelley), Rev. D. Davies (Castle Caereinion), John Parry, Robert Davies (Nantglyn) and Hu ap Ier. ap Robert, and anonymous poems. Among other items included are a code of manners ('Dysg Vanners dda'); a pedigree of Oliver Cromwell; a drawing and a description of a brass object discovered at Hen fryn fawr near Caersiws [sic], Montgomeryshire, 1808, 'Teilyn[g]dod a theithi yr Iaith Gymraeg', etc. [from Edward Williams ('Iolo Morganwg'): Cyfrinach Beirdd Ynys Prydain (Abertawy, 1829)]; and a diagram illustrating the civil order and the ecclesiastical order of the months. Much of the volume appears to have been written during the period 1817-18 but there are some personal and other memoranda dated to 1857. Some of the items appear to have been copied from NLW MS 2691 ('Llyfr Pant Phillip').

A volume originally used by Thomas Richards, Darowen to record the rules of Darowen Church Sunday School ('Rheolau perthynol i Ysgol Sabbothol Eglwys Darowen') [1824]. Beginning at the end, also in the hand of Thomas Richards, are 'Cadwaen Iachawdwriaeth', a list of subscribers (among them Thomas Richards) to Welsh Bibles, and 'Crefyddau', being statistics of religious membership of European countries. The outside upper cover is inscribed 'Ysgol Sul Eglwys Darowen 1824'.

A composite volume, comprising five exercise books and numerous pieces mounted therein, largely in the hand of Mary Richards, Darowen. A volume, dated 1835, which was originally intended as as arithmetic exercise book for T[homas] Cynddelw Richards and was subsequently used by Mary Richards to record a list of bards, etc. who were licenced ('a gafodd Drwydd[ed]') at a Welshpool eisteddfod [?1824] and transcripts of 'cywyddau', 'englynion', etc. by Moris Evan ap Eingan [i..e. The volume was largely compiled during the years 1855-60 but there are some later entries dated to 1871. A composite volume comprising three exercise books and insets largely in the hands of Thomas Richards, Darowen and David Richards, Llansilin. The contents include a list of names, ages and dates of death of 176 eminent ecclesiastics ('Cofrestr o Enwau, Oedran ac amser marwolaeth y Gwyr enwog canlynol ... '); a tract, 1753 (transcribed 1822), explaining the reasons for the adoption in Great Britain in 1752 of the Gregorian or New Style Calendar ('... y Rhesymmau amlycaf paham y gwnaed y cyfnewidiad diweddar yn y Flwyddyn, ydys yn alw yr Ysteil newydd'); short biographies of early and late British historians ('Ychydig o hanes yr Awdwyr mwyaf hynod a ysgrifennasant am y Brutaniaid yn yr Ynys hon yn gynar ac yn ddiweddar ...'), based on Joshua Thomas: Hanes y Bedyddwyr, Ymhlith y Cymry... Metrical translations of 'Wyres fach Ned Puw' by 'Adam Jones' (i.e. J[ohn] H[enry] Hughes, Cefnmawr [1814-1893]), of Edgar Allan Poe's [1809-1849] poem 'The Raven' by 'Pindar' (i.e. Thomas Francis Roberts [1860-1919], afterwards principal of the University College of Wales) and of 'Y Gwallgofdy', a poem by Richard Davies ('Tafolog') [1830-1904], by 'Cydymdeimlydd' (i.e. J[ames] Clarke, Llangollen), all of which were awarded prizes at the Birkenhead National Eisteddfod, 1878.

A notebook in three hands containing English translations of poetry by Alphonse de Lamartine, among them being versifications by G. Hughes, Oakley Lodge, Gloucestershire, and translations by Amédé Louis Joseph Guidez; 'englynion' by [Daniel Evans] 'Daniel Ddu [o Geredigion]' and [John Jones] 'Ioan Tegid', 1828, and English translations and imitations of poetry of 'Ioan Tegid' by T. S. A. and T. J., 1832-6; and an extract from Francois René, vicomte de Chateaubriand: Les Martyrs, ou Le Triomphe de la Religion Chrétienne, together with a corresponding Latin translation by M. Guidez. Although the fly-leaf bears the name of Alcwyn C. Evans, Carmarthen none of the text is in his hand.

'Trysorfa Gyffredin', a miscellany containing extracts from John [or Siôn] Rhydderch: Grammadeg Cymraeg ... (Mwythig, 1728); copies of 'englynion' in the churchyards of Dolwyddelan, Llangower, Llanuwchllyn, Llanfor, Llandrillo, Glyn Caerog, Llantysilio and Rhewl (Dyffryn Clwyd); poems by John Page ('Ioan [Glan] Dyfrdwy') and Charles Saunderson ('Siarl Wyn o Benllyn'); lecture notes; etc.

A volume written almost entirely in the autograph of John Roberts ('Siôn Lleyn'; 1749-1817) containing poetry largely of his own composition, with some items by other poets. The volume is in two sections and there is a list of contents at the beginning covering pp. 1-145 in the first section. The wording on the title-page is 'Trysorfa yr Awen sef Casgliad o Ganiadau, Sion Lleyn, 1787,' but some of the items are of later date. The other poets represented are David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu o'r Eryri'), Robert Prich[ar]d (Robert Prichiard Sion,'Robin'r Aber'), T[h]om[a]s Edward[s] Nant, D. Edward, Lewis Morys, John Hughes ('pandy bach pentre ucha yn Lleyn'), Richard Powel, Evan Owens, Glan-yllynnay (Llanystumdwy), MrEfan Efans ('Bardd hir') [Ieuan Brydydd Hir], Evan Rich[ar]d (Bryncroes), [David Jones] Dafydd Sion Pierce ('Dafydd Brydydd hir'), Dafydd ap Sion, Owen Griffith, Hugh Lloed [sic] Cynfal, Goronwy Owen(s) ('Goronwy Ddu o Fôn'), Edmund Prys and Griffith Philip. One or two items (p. 2 in the first section and pp. 142-5 at the end of the volume) appear to be in the autograph of John Thomas ('Siôn Wyn o Eifion'). One 'cywydd' in the volume (p. 118 in the first section) is headed 'Annerch Ieuan Bryncroes i Sion Lleyn wedi dyfod i ymweled a mi i Chappel Rhyd-y-Clafrdy pryd yr oeddwn yno yn cadw ysgol y fln 1791 y mis Medi' . The volume contains some notes in the autograph of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd'), press cuttings and also a copy (printed) of Marwnad, neu Goffadwriaeth y Brawd Robert Roberts, o Sir Gaernarfon : yr hwn a ymadawodd â'r Byd hwn Tachwedd 28, 1802. Yn llawn 40 mlwydd Oed : wedi bod yn pregethu'r Efengyl 15 mlynedd. 8 pp. (Caernarfon : Argraphwyd gan T. Roberts, n.d.) by S. Lleyn. On p. 4 in the second section are 'Trioedd y Crinwas neu'r Cybydd'.

Two nineteenth-century tune books now joined together as one volume, the first bearing the dates 1816 and 1866 (inside covers) in the hand of Mair Richards of Darowen, and the second 1850 (inside front cover); the first part contains popular and traditional Welsh song and dance tunes, the second, English waltzes, marches and quicksteps with a few traditional Welsh tunes and hymn-tunes. Also included are an englyn attributed to M[air] R[ichards], but signed below in red by David Richards ('Dewi Silin'; 1783-1826), who may have been the first owner (part one, f. 1).

A miscellaneous collection of hymn-tunes, anthems and a few traditional and popular tunes from Wales and elsewhere, perhaps compiled in the mid-nineteenth century and comprising various quires, bifolia and single sheets in a number of hands of the first half of the century, and bearing watermarks between 1817 (ff. 10, 24) and 1845 (f. 93). It includes works attributed to John Williams (f. 13), David Harries, Carno (ff. 14-16, 25 recto-verso, 28 verso-30, 55 verso-8, 62-6 verso) and David Richards ('Dewi Silin') (ff. 17-19 verso, inverted text). Accompanying words, where present, are mainly in Welsh. Also included are memoranda and verse in Welsh (ff. 26 verso-8) and a few annotations by Mair Richards, Darowen (f. 16a).

A volume of Welsh poetry, 'cywyddau' and 'cerddi', given by [Thomas Edwards], 'Twm o'r Nant', to [William Owen-Pughe], 'Idrison', in 1809. Pages 1-172 are in the hand of 'Twm o'r Nant', and pages 102-110 are bicolumnar. Most of the items contained in the manuscript are the work of 'Twm o'r Nant' and are unpublished for the most part. Other poets represented in the volume are: John Thomas o bentre'r Foelas, Jonathan Hughes, Sion Prichard y gof o Dreffynon: alias Sion y Gôf ffyrnig, Gutun Gwrexham [=Edward Charles], Hywel Wehydd [= 'Hywel Eryri', Hugh Evans], John Roberts of 'plwy Lygen', and Rog[er] Edw[ar]ds. Other poems are attributed to Gwas Ystiwart Castell Rhodwy, Rhys y geiriau duon, Gelyn y Bleiddiaid, and Cynffon yr Esgob.

A 'waste book' of Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd') consisting largely of problems in fluxions, together with 'The Welsh' and 'The Welsh Language' (being attacks on the Welsh people for their prejudices against the English language and their adherence to their native language), an incomplete draft of a play entitled 'Deio Meurig's Visit to Pwllhely on a Saturday afternoon in June', English and Welsh verses; etc.

Drafts of articles relating to Welsh literature and history and to Celtic institutions; lists of Welsh words derived from English and of words common to both branches of the Celtic family; and a poem entitled 'Rhiangerdd Gwenfalwy o Gastell Caerphili' by 'Idwal Trefor', 1874.

A collection of papers formerly inserted in NLW MS 13236B. Items 1-4, 8, and 15-18 are in the hand of William Owen [-Pughe], and item 10 is in the hand of D[avid] Thomas, ['Dafydd Ddu Eryri']. The contents include: I, a collection of 'englynion' by R.D. [?Robert Davies, 'Bardd Nantglyn'], Mor [sic] ap Evan ab Dadd., and D.T.
