Much of the volume was probably compiled during the late 1840's, but there are additions to the early 1870s.

A manuscript largely in the hand of Mary Richards, Darowen containing 'Llyma ddeall y pader ynghymraeg' ('o lawysgrifen ar femrwn cyn 1600'); 'Copi o Ramadeg Gymrae[g] rhai a ddywed Gramadeg Coronwy Owain y dechreu yn eisie'); 'cywyddau', 'englynion' and some 'penillion' by Robin ddu, Dafydd Gorllech, Guttun Owain ('Meredith ab Rhys medd eraill'), Sion Philip, Sypyn Cyfeiliog, Edmund Prys, William Philip, Howel Bedo, Owen Gryffudd, Edward Morys, Owen Robert, Hugh Morys, William Elias, Dafydd ap Gwilim, John Rogers, Ifan Tew Brydydd and Bedo Brwynllys, and anonymous poetry, the greater part of the poetry by Owen Gruffydd and copied 'o Lyfyr Owen Gruffydd'; there are later verses by 'Dewi ab Ioan', (Blaen Afon), David Charles [Carmarthen], Thomas Jones (Maes y Cerndi), J. Blackwell ['Alun'] and [David Richards] ('D[ewi] Silin'); and a copy of a letter from W[alter] Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'], 1817 (the establishment in Montgomeryshire of an Auxiliary Society in aid of the British and Foreign Bible Society). The manuscript is in the form of two books, of which one was partly used, c. 1820, by 'J. H. M. L.' to record 'Adnotationes quaedam admodum miscellaniae', including a list of titles of Welsh airs, a list of Welsh expressions and their English equivalents and notes on the accidence of the Welsh language. Used as the upper end paper is a fragment of an 18th century answer of Christopher Welcker the elder, one of the defendants to the bill of complaint of Wm. Sherlock and Frances, his wife, and James Blundell and Mary, his wife, complainants.

A collection of 'cerddi', 'carolau', etc. by Hugh Morris, together with a 'cerdd' by Huw Jones, Llangwm, a 'cerdd' by the Reverend Walter Davies ['Gwallter Mechain'], anonymous 'englynion, 'carolau' and some financial accounts, 1805 and undated. The volume is in the hand of Huw Jones, Llangwm, with a few later additions by Elizabeth Maurice and by Mary Richards, Darowen. It belonged to Thomas Powel, 1804, and Martha Powel, 1805, and also bears the names of Henry Powel, 1756, John Jones, carpenter, Pentregayr [Oswestry] and Martha Edwards.

A volume of holograph poetry in strict and free metres by William Pugh, Llanfihangel [probably Llanfihangel yng Ngwynfa, Montgomeryshire]. The titles include '[Awdl] i annerch Griffith Lewis o'r Ty-bach y mhlwyf y Cemmaes Medi 7fed 1821'; 'Englyn L. J. O'r Blue bell Machynlleth'; 'Cerdd Newydd o fawl i Mr. Edward Lloyd o'r Ty'n-twll y mhlwyf Llanfyllin Pregethwr Cynorthwyol gyda Wesleyans ... Ebrill 4ydd 1821'; 'Englyn i Arweinydd Robert Davies o Nantglyn' [i.e., Arweinydd i'r anllythyrenog ..., 4th ed., Dinbych, 1820]; 'Hymn Newydd ... Ionawr 1af 1821'; 'Ychydig o ymddiddanion rhwng Eos wnfa [i.e., Thomas Williams, 'Eos Gwynfa'] a Rhaiadar am Briodi' (mutilated); 'Awdle o fawl i'r Parchedig John Davies Vicar Llanidloes am ei garedigrwydd a'i fedrysrwydd yn golygu dro[s] Ysgolion rhad Mrs. Beavan'; 'Cywydd [recte Awdl] i annerch William Roberts o'r Brynmoel Cemmaes o achos ei ddiogu yn awen-yddi ... Testyn Cadeiriol Eisteddfod y Gordofigion yn Llynlleifiad 1840', together with two pages of revisions ('Diwygiadau yn yr Awdl ragflaenol'); a draft 'awdl' on 'Esgyniad Elias', 'Englyn ir Afr. Un o destynau Eisteddfod y Gordovigion 1840'; 'Englynion i Syr Joshua Walmsley Maer Llynlleifiad, ar yr achlysur o'i nawdd ai haelioni i Eisteddfod y Gordofigion 1840'; and 'Awdl ar Longddrylliad y "Rothsay Castle" 1832, ('Rhan gyntaf o Awdl ar y Testyn, sef hyd pan darawodd y Llong Ar "Draethell yr Isellmyn" yn Awst 17 1831')'.

A volume containing copies (?for publication) of two compositions in strict metres by Evan David ('Ieuan Myfyr Uwch Celli'), Gwernytaraw, Llangrallo, Glamorgan, being an 'awdl' entitled 'Cwymp Goliath Gawr yn yr ornest a fu rhyngddo a Dafydd mab Iesse, wedi hyny, Dafydd Brenin Israel', which was awarded the first prize at Merthyr [Tudful] Eisteddfod, 1825 (printed in Awenyddion Morganwg (Merthyr Tudful [1826]), and 'Marwnad o Goffadwriaeth am y diweddar Fardd Mr William Moses neu Gwilym Tew o Lan Taf, yr hwn a fu farw ar y 30ed o Dachwedd 1824, yn 82 oed', which was adjudged the second best at the same eisteddfod.
