Clement Davies (Liberal MP) Papers,
Print preview View:

[Wrongly dated '1949'],

Clement Davies to Sir Archibald Sinclair. Expects election to come in February and begs recipient to remain a member of the Liberal Party Committee. Has doubts re his own seat-'Even if I do pull it off, it will be a damned near thing'. The position of all the Welsh representatives is precarious but they are good candidates. Gwilym [Lloyd-George] has been a great worry. There is great suspense in the country because of the impending election. Agrees that no advice should be given to Liberal supporters in constituencies where the Party has no candidate and certainly no pact should be made with the Conservatives. Copy.
