David Davies: General Correspondence,

The correspondents include Sir John Ballinger, E. Penllyn Jones, and A. C. Humphreys-Owen, Glansevern. Some of the correspondents comment on the recent publication of the Llandinam Magazine published in 1901. The file also contains a large number of letters from David Davies to his mother and some other individuals while he was travelling, giving his impressions of the countries and describing in some detail his travels and experiences. These countries include the USA, Canada, Japan, Korea and China. Many are written on board various shipping vessels while travelling. The file also contains the following texts of lectures or articles 'Impressions of Norway', 'Lecture on Japan', 'Impressions of Corea [sic]' and 'The Irish Problem & its Solution'. There are also some letters addressed to David Davies while on his travels and give him advice on travelling and where to go.

Some of the correspondents congratulate David Davies upon the receipt of a peerage. Includes letters from Major Charles E. Breese, J. Davies Bryan, Clement Davies MP, Rev. Gwilym Davies, Henry Neville Gladstone, Hawarden Castle, F. E. Hamer (2 letters), J. Tywi Jones, Y Darian, Sir Thomas Artemus Jones, Principal J. F. Rees, Sir John Herbert Roberts, Lord Clwyd, and Wickham Steed. There is also a draft or a copy of a letter, 5 June 1932, from Lord Davies to Ramsay MacDonald, the Prime Minister, expressing gratitude for the receipt of the earldom.

Includes correspondence and papers relating to the political dispute between Clement Davies and Lord Davies in 1938-39, and Lord Davies's attitudes towards national politics. There are several references to the 1943 by-election in the University of Wales parliamentary division. Includes letters from the Rev. Gwilym Davies, 1942, and Ifan ab Owen Edwards, 1942 (2 letters).

Contains correspondence and papers, 1934-50, relating mainly to the political career of E. H. Garner-Evans MP, the formation of an electoral pact between the National Liberals and the Conservatives in the Denbigh division in 1948-49, and the ensuing general election there in February 1950. Some of the letters discuss political issues of national importance. Garner-Evans represented the Denbighshire constituency as a National Liberal and Conservative MP from 1950 until 1959.

Contains papers on the forthcoming peace settlement, the parliamentary representation of Montgomeryshire and the activities of the Montgomeryshire Central Liberal Association. Many of the letters concern the merger of the county and the boroughs local Liberal associations to form one body and the subsequent 1918 general election in the county.
