Manuscripts and papers formerly owned by Paul Panton of Plas Gwyn, Anglesey, mainly of Welsh antiquarian, historical and literary interest, including the manuscripts of Evan Evans (Ieuan Fardd); papers of Paul Panton, senior, and Paul Panton, junior; and manuscripts of, or relating to, antiquarian and literary figures such as William Williams, Beaumaris, Robert Vaughan, Hengwrt, and Thomas Pennant.

Diaries, 1817-1852, of Lewis Weston Dillwyn (1778-1855) of Penlle'rgaer, Glamorgan, containing entries relating to family and estate matters, his business interests, his work as a naturalist, together with his public duties as a magistrate and as a Member of Parliament. Also included is the journal of his tour on the Continent in 1836. Most of the volumes are partially indexed by him, and many contain appendices, some relating to events before 1817 (see file level descriptions for further details).

Estate and family records of the Chirk Castle estate, mainly in Denbighshire, comprising deeds from 1284; manorial records, mainly of the lordship of Chirk and Chirkland, 1322-1853, including receiver's accounts, ministers' accounts, court rolls, etc.; records of the estate's involvement in the coal, iron and lead industries in Denbighshire from 17 cent.; Denbighshire Quarter Sessions records, including order books, 1647-1675, rolls, 1643-1699, and a book of indictments, 1670-1690; Denbighshire militia records, 1602-1797, and related local government records, 1602-1811; business papers of Sir Thomas Myddelton (1550-1631); personal and estate correspondence from c.1600; literary manuscripts, c.1630-1887; and parliamentary election papers for Denbighshire and Denbigh boroughs, 1681-1852, including papers relating to quo warranto proceedings against the mayor and burgeses of Holt, 1739-1743.

Ten designs for stained glass panels, with armorial pedigree of the Myddelton family attributed to A. W. N. Pugin and John Hardman Powell; three hundred and thirty-two volumes relating to the Chirk Castle estates; a collection of miscellaneous volumes and documents relating to the Chirk Castle estates, including an account book of the Nangwrud Slate Quarry, rentals books, account books, volumes relating to the Black Park Colliery, a rabbit account book, and other papers; and an indenture, 1812, relating to Bodlith, Llansilin, part of the Chirk Castle estate were acquired. These remain uncatalogued.

Papers, [1756]-1854, of the Evans family of Trefayog and Cilau-wen, Pembrokeshire, comprising largely of accounts and rentals relating to Cilau-wen and Trefayog estates and ship's accounts and log books kept by members of the Evans family who went to sea; together with a diary, sermons, exercise books, etc.

Deeds, 1564-1857, relating to the Bachegraig estate, Flintshire; brief diary entries of Gabriel and Hester Lynch Piozzi, 1797-1812 (NLW MSS 11096-102); correspondence, 1756-1823 (NLW MS 11103D); heraldic and genealogical records, 1813 (NLW Rolls 223); and a survey and valuation of the Bachegraig estate, 1790, which also includes accounts, 1788-1807 (NLW MS 11104C).

Papers, mainly correspondence, 1777-1840, of the Jones and Harrison family of Llantysilio Hall, Llangollen, including letters from Lady Eleanor Butler and Miss Ponsonby ('The Ladies of Llangollen') to various members of the Jones and Harrison families, 1800-1828. The papers also include deeds, 1571-1768, relating to the manor of Over Gorther in Montgomeryshire and Shropshire; and other documents, 1649-1857.

Records of the Edwinsford estate of the Williams, later Williams-Drummond, family in Carmarthenshire, including deeds, 1411-1860; manorial records, 1500-1744, including records of the manor of Talley, 1551-1744, and Caio, 1500-1734; estate correspondence, 1580-1863, (mainly post 1700), estate and household accounts, 1654, 1670-1903, and rentals, 1707-1843; deeds relating to the Llether Cadfan estate, 1474-1760, and Court Derllys estate, 1563-1805, both in Carmarthenshire.

Manuscripts, estate records and papers of the Wynne family of Bodewryd, Anglesey, including records of the Bodowyr estate (Bodedern), Anglesey, and Plas Einion estate, Denbighshire, and papers of the Owen family of Penrhos, Anglesey; important Welsh literary manuscripts, legal manuscripts relating to civil and ecclesiastical law; the antiquarian collections of Edward Wynne, chancellor of Hereford, relating to Wales and to the diocese of Hereford, and part of the collection of Humphrey Humphreys, bishop of Bangor and later of Hereford; letters to Humphrey Humphreys, 1691-1709 (mainly 1705-1709); Wynne family correspondence, 1613-1816; legal papers, [17 cent.]-[18 cent.], especially relating to a lengthy action between Chancellor Edward Wynne and the Mostyn estate following the purchase by Wynne of the Bodowyr estate, 1721-1746; estate, personal and household accounts, 1603-1753; and title deeds, [13 cent.]-1864.

Letters of John Gibson to Mr and Mrs Sandbach, 1839-1865, discussing mainly his professional work and the numerous commissions and requests which he has received. There are also occasional references to domestic and personal news.

Manuscripts, [c. 1860]-1865, of Henry J. Vincent relating to his researches into the history of the parish of St Dogmael's, Pembrokeshire, its abbey and the surrounding areas of Pembrokeshire and Cardiganshire, including six volumes (Nos I-IV and VIII-IX) in a numbered series of at least nine.

Papers of Lady Charlotte Guest (née Bertie), 1827-1851, [?1873], comprising manuscripts of parts of her English translation of the Mabinogion and their accompanying notes, 1838-[1843]; other manuscripts directly related to her work on the Mabinogion, [?late 1830s]-1851; early notes compiled by Charlotte Bertie (later Guest), on a variety of subjects, 1827-[1830s]; and other miscellaneous items including a deed box.

The papers consist of the personal papers and letters of, and acquired by, Evan Richards of Nanthenfoel, 1823-1872; family correspondence, 1826-1891; unproved Cardiganshire wills, 1805-1847; and miscellaneous documents of Cardiganshire interest, 1787-1853.

Family papers and estate records, 1534-1872, mainly of the Edwards family of Cerrigllwydion, Denbighshire, and Dolserau, Merioneth, with a smaller amount of material of the Richards family of Caerynuwch, including family and estate letters, 1776-1859, deeds relating to the estate in Merioneth, Denbighshire and Flintshire, 1534-1859, and miscellaneous papers (mainly financial), [late 17 cent.]-1872.

The collection includes records of patient prescriptions and payment, draft horoscopes compiled in response to patient requests, a printed astrological almanac with manuscript entries, patient correspondence, notes and transcripts of medical lectures, and medical treatises; together with general account books, miscellaneous papers, etc.
