Album bound in black leather with gold tooling and slightly damaged. Includes commercially and privately produced photographs, many of Lancaster and the north west of England. Of particular note are images of the Yarlside Iron Mines, street scenes in Preston (Lancashire), Lancaster Quay Commissioners trip 188-, River Thames after a University boat race, numerous views of Downing Hall, Flintshire and grounds, some being snowscenes.

A composite volume of the period c. 1764-1765 containing transcripts and drafts of reports on education in England, Wales, and Ireland, and of other papers on education, collected by a Russian commissioner with a view to establishing an educational system in Russia. The fonds comprises case papers, 1903-1973, dealing with interested parties within Wales and/or the London area who had some sort of Welsh connection. Included are papers dealing with land and property transfer, receivership and company liquidation, defamation and compensation, opposition to parliamentary bills, the settlement of personal estate, contempt of court and general legal matters. Not all of the issues addressed in the files actually resulted in court cases. The majority of the files consist of legal papers such as instructions and notes to counsel, briefs to counsel, opinions of counsel, affidavits, statements, declarations, summonses, claims and orders, often in draft form or as official copies, and solicitors' charges and bills. These are usually accompanied by correspondence made up of original letters and copy letters, both office copies and carbon copies, as well as handwritten notes and occasional telegrams, bills and receipts. Frequently, the files also contain associated documents such as copies of leases, agreements and deeds, plans and maps, accounts, reports and transcriptions of evidence, together with relevant printed material such as sale particulars, parliamentary bills and published reports.

The series comprises diaries detailing farming activities on the farms of Penyffridd, 1883-1891, Felindre, 1892-1914, Cil, 1926, all in Berriew, Wales, and Lower House farm, Little Ness, England, 1933. 1/1-5, 1/8 also include notes on the sermons of Rev. E Thomas at Byrwyrdd chapel, Castle Caereinion, Wales.
