(With 321-322C). One of three composite volumes largely in the hand of D. Silvan Evans containing copious transcripts of prose and poetry texts and extracts from several manuscripts in the Llanover collection, e.g. 'Dafydd ab Gwilym', 'Dafydd Ddu o Hiraddug', 'Pennillion diarhebol Iolo Morganwg', 'Pennillion Serch Gwasgar Iolo Morganwg', 'Dyriau Gwasgar', 'Darnau Defnyddion Doethineb Teuluaidd', 'Gwersi Doethineb', 'Gwasgaredd Doethineb', 'Silurian Phrases' 'Cyngor i Feirdd a Dysgedigion Cymru', 'Ffermyddiaeth', 'Arferion Morganwg', 'Trioedd y Llafurwr', 'Tywyddolion', etc. The transcripts of manuscripts at Llanover were made during the period 1880-2 but some annotations by the scribe are dated to 1892. According to a note at the end of the transcript, one transcript by H[ugh[ B[rython] H[ughes] was sent for publication in Yr Haul in 1874 (see Yr Haul, 1874, pp. 427-8). A note on page 406 refers to a transcript made by Thomas Miles ('Gwas Arglwyddes Llanover') for D. Silvan Evans in September 1882. The spine of each volume is lettered 'Manion Cof a Chadw', with the appropriate volume number.

Two volumes containing over one hundred and sixty holograph letters and postcards and fragments of letters from B[enjamin] Williams ('Gwynionydd') to D. Silvan Evans ('Hirlas'). The letters are addressed from a variety of places, such as Rhydlewis, Llanfihangel ar Arth, Llangeitho, Llangan, Trefilan, Cenarth, Newcastle Emlyn, Cwmdwr, Abergwennol, Llandovery, Llanddeusant, Penboyr, Pontlottyn and Llanover. The inclusive period of the letters is 1860-91 but the majority are dated within the years 1882-8. The main subjects of discussion are family bereavements and other news, South Cardiganshire pedigrees and biographies, the etymology of place and dialect names, institutions within the Established Church generally of interest to the writer, and day-to-day events and conditions of life and employment at Plas Llanofer. Silvano Evans, Cereticense') (pasted on to the inside lower cover is a holograph letter from the Reverend David Williams, Llanedy Rectory, 1868, giving the entry of baptism of John, son of John Walter, cleric and lexicographer, on 22 August 1721); a home-made notebook entitled 'Llyvryddiaeth Gymreig' (pasted on to the inside lower cover is a note in the hand of Benjamin Williams, ('Gwynionydd')); another home-made notebook entitled 'Emynau detholedig at Wasanaeth yr Eglwys. Rhag. 29, 1862', being a bibliography of Welsh hymnals and relevant source material; copious unbound leaves containing book titles (one of the titles is written on the dorse of a letter from M. A. Some of the unbound titles are in the hand of Richard Williams (1835-1906), Celynog, Newtown and there is some later and additional material in the hand of J. H. Davies.

The original manuscript of 'Llyfryddiaeth y Cymry', 1546-1800, in the autograph of the Reverend William Rowlands ('Gwilym Lleyn'), with additions and corrections by D. Silvan Evans, including a few contributions in the autograph of Richard Williams [then of Welshpool, afterwards of Celynog, Newtown], etc. A note in pencil indicates that pp. 10 and 333 are wanting; other pages have been cut into two or more pieces.

Silvan Evans'); 'Rheithiadur Llythyraeth a Llafariaeth yr Iaith Gymraeg' ('Dechreuwyd Gorphenaf 26, 1850'); 'Adgofiedydd-Llythyraeth. Tach. 3, 1856'; 'Cyhydedd Geiriau Unsill y Gymraeg. The Quantity of Welsh Monosyllables' ('Argraffedig gan mwyaf, ond nid y cwbl oll, yn "Llythyraeth yr Iaith Gymraeg", Pen. IV (Caerfyrddin, 1861, 16 plyg)'; 'Henafion Cymreig - Geiriadur o Henafiaethau Cymreig'; 'Allan o "Gynghorion Priodor o Garedigion i Ddeiliaid ei Dyddynod" (Llundain, 1800, 8 plyg)' (a glossary based on the Welsh translation of Thomas Johnes, A Cardiganshire Landlord's Advice to his Tenants); 'Welsh Laws' (a glossary); etc.

A composite volume of poetry in strict and free metre by various poets including Mabclaf ab Llywarch, Aneirin Gwawdrwydd [sic], Evan Evans ('Ieuan Brydydd Hir'), [Robert Williams] 'Robert ab Gwilym Ddu', [David Owen] 'Dewi Wyn', [Griffith Williams] 'Gyttun Peris', [Richard Jones] 'Gwyndaf Eryri', [William Edwards] 'Gwilym Padarn', [Owen Williams] 'Owain Gwyrfai', [Evan Prichard] 'Ieuan Lleyn', [David Thomas] 'D[afydd] Ddu o Eryri', John Davies and Michael Prichard. The contents also include a list headed 'The Names of some of the most Ancient Bards and Historians and the Time wherein [sic] they Flourished'. The lettering on the spine reads 'Llyfr Ieuan Lleyn, 1799' and the volume, except for the last five folios, appears to have been written between 1799 and 1822. The last four folios are partly in the hand of D. Silvan Evans and the folio immediately preceding them is probably earlier in date than 1799 and may belong to Cwrtmawr MS 513B, Part II.

A volume in the hand of Daniel Silvan Evans (1818-1903) containing annotated extracts from manuscripts in the Llanover Collection, taken at Llanover during the period 1881-2; a vocabulary of the dialect of Lleyn; etc. Among the insets and pastedowns is a holograph letter from B[enjamin] Wil[liams] ['Gwynionydd'], Cwmdwr to [D. Silvan Evans], 1882 (a contribution by the writer to Yr Haul, personal).

Lists of books with prices, offered by D. Williams, London to the Reverend Robert Williams, Llangernyw and Conway. Most of the books are in Welsh or relate to Wales. There are notes, dated 1831-4, appended to three of the lists, relating to books available and books for which the addressee had enquired. A list of 212 Welsh books, published between 1802 and 1890, sent by [Charles Ashton] to [Daniel Silvan Evans], with a note appended (the above list contained all the books not purely theological out of about 600 books which the writer had recorded, he would like to see a copy of the 'Bardd Cwsg' edited by the addressee and also his note in Revue Celtique on Llyfryddiaeth y Cymry.).

A volume in the hand of D. Silvan Evans described on the title-page as 'Lewis Morris's Additions to Dr Davies's Welsh-Latin Dictionary (from autographs) 1879. (The original Copy, once belonging to Lewis Morris, and annotated on by him, is now (1879) in the possession of the Rev. Thomas James, LLD, ['Llallawg'], Vicar of Netherthong, near Huddersfield)'. The scribe has added the following observations: 'The additions, it will be seen, are few, and very unimportant ..', and at the end has recorded the following entry: 'Returned the Copy of Dr Davies's Dictionary lent me by Llallawg, for transcribing the preceding notes, July 30, 1879'.
