A composite volume of holograph poetry by Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd'). The titles include 'Awdl ar Gystuddiau, Amynedd ac Adferiad Job. Testyn Cadeiriol Eisteddfod y Gordofigion yn Llynlleifiad 1840', together with two pages of revisions ('Diwygiadau yn yr Awdl ragflaenol'); a draft 'awdl' on 'Esgyniad Elias', 'Englyn ir Afr. Un o destynau Eisteddfod y Gordovigion 1840'; 'Englynion i Syr Joshua Walmsley Maer Llynlleifiad, ar yr achlysur o'i nawdd ai haelioni i Eisteddfod y Gordofigion 1840'; and 'Awdl ar Longddrylliad y "Rothsay Castle" 1832, ('Rhan gyntaf o Awdl ar y Testyn, sef hyd pan darawodd y Llong Ar "Draethell yr Isellmyn" yn Awst 17 1831')'.

A folder containing eight files of original letters and copies of letters and poetry from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. Files 1-3: Transcripts of letters by Lewis and Richard Morris, mainly to Evan Evans ('Ieuan Fardd') and Dafydd Jones of Trefriw, almost all published in Hugh Owen (ed.), Additional Letters of the Morrises of Anglesey (1735-1786), Y Cymmrodor, Vol. XLIX, 1947-9, the remainder published in G. J. Williams (gol.) Llythyrau at Ddafydd Jones o Drefriw. Cylchgrawn Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru. Atodiad. Cyfres III, Rhif 2 (1942), and J. H. Davies (ed.), The Letters of Lewis, Richard, William and John Morris of Anglesey (Morrisiaid Mon) (Aberystwyth, 1907-9). The original letters or copies from which these copies were transcribed are in the British Museum (Add MSS 14929, 15021, 15024, 15029) and the National Library of Wales (mainly Panton 74 and NLW MS 476). There is also a transcript of a letter from the Reverend Thomas Ellis, Holyhead to the Reverend Humphrey Owen and the Reverend J. Hoare, 1742 (the original letter is preserved in NLW MS 478), and a copy of Evan Evans's elegy to Lewis Morris, with notes on the text. File 4: Transcripts of letters from Edward Richard, Ystrad Meurig, c. 1759-1766, to Evan Evans ('Ieuan Fardd'). There are also copies of two short letters to Evan Evans from Roderick Lewis, Trefeglwys, and William Howell, Llanidloes, which were written on the same sheet as Edward Richard's letter of 1 March 1766. The original letters are preserved in NLW MS Panton 74. A transcript of a letter from Edward Richard, 1766, to Richard Morris (from BM Add MS 15025), and extracts from letters from Edward Richard to Lewis Morris, 1759 and undated (from BM Add MS 15029). A holograph letter from Edward Richard, Ystradmeuryg, 1762, to Lewis Morris, Penbryn (published in Hugh Owen, op. cit. Part II, pp. 562-3). File 5: A holograph letter from [the Reverend] W[illiam] Davies, Llanwryn [Montgomeryshire], 1710, to Henry Newman at the Reverend Mr Shute's in Bartlet's Buildings, London (receipt of letter and a packet from the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge, subscriptions from other parishes, has partly prevailed with a certain minister to become a corresponding member). The letter bears the number 2381 (see Mary Clement (ed.), Correspondence and minutes of the S.P.C.K. relating to Wales 1699-1740 (Cardiff, 1952), p. 35. Abstract No. 2381). The letters are addressed to John Roberts ('Sion Lleyn'), Pwllheli (4), 1791-1806 (corrections to addressee's poetry, tributes to writer's brother, Humphrey, after his death, some short poetical compositions by the writer), to Griffith Williams ('Gutyn Peris'), Llandygai (8), 1799-1819, (poetry, subjects upon which writer desired addressee to compose hymns, meetings of bards and eisteddfodau, comments and news of contemporary poets, writer's health and work), and one letter, addressee not named, 1804, (addressee's poetry which writer had received, desires addressee to render 2 Samuel XXII in strict metres and to ask other poets to do the same). The poetry includes verses entitled 'Y Cynauaf mawr diweddaf' subscribed 'D. T. a'i cant allan o'r Saesneg ar ddymuniad John Jones Llandwrog Medi 10d 1804 (cf. Dafydd Thomas (Dafydd Ddû Eryri), Corph y Gaingc (Caernarfon, 1834), pp. 323-4), and 'Englynion newyddion i Long newydd o Gaernarfon yr hon a elwir Valiant'. Ivor Parry of the will of David Owen ['Dewi Wyn o Eifion'], 13 June 1837.

A composite volume containing poetical compositions in strict and free metre by, and in the autograph of, Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd'). The wording on the title-page of the first part of the volume is 'Cyfansoddion Barddonol gan Ebenezer Thomas, Clynnog. 1843' but some of the items in the section are later than this date. The remainder of the manuscript appears to consist of two other sections, the one containing miscellaneous poems, some dated, c. 1833-60, the other containing 'Y Cleopiad', 1847, and a number of 'englynion'. Alterations and interlineations have been made in some of the poems. Besides the Welsh poems - many of which, though not all, are included in Gweithiau Barddonol, &c. Eben Fardd [?1873] - the volume contains a few items of English verse. There are also one or two printed items, including a sheet of harvest hymns entitled 'Hymnau Cynauaf' by Ebenezer Thomas, 1843 (Caernarfon: Argraffwyd gan James Rees).

A composite volume largely in the autograph of Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd') containing pedigrees (John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd') has marked some items, e.g. Llwynhelyg, Cwningaer, Robert ab Gwilym Ddu, John Wynn Morris of Wmwlch & Tyddyn Mawr); lines of verse (?incomplete) beginning 'My friend and I, on one autumnal morn ...' containing a reference to visiting John Thomas ('Siôn Wyn o Eifion'); the beginning of a translation of 'Awdl Elusengarwch' (Dewi Wyn [o Eifion]) under the title 'Charity'; a copy of a letter, 1854, from Ebenezer Thomas to the Reverend M. Rice Morgan, Pengwern, near Swansea (a claim for postage expenses in connection with the Treforys Eisteddfod); 'Englynion Wrth ganfod Eben Fardd. Awst 20 1853' by 'Maccwy' [?Robert Roberts, 'Macwy Môn']; diary entries, 2 May - 10 September 1858, relating to the illness and death of Elizabeth, youngest daughter of 'Eben Fardd'; a letter, 1852, from William Evans, Llandwrog to Ebenezer Thomas, sending a copy of some lines of verse by the writer entitled 'Hail, Clynnog Fawr'; a note concerning Goronwy Owen and his descendants in America based on letters in Yr Herald Cymraeg, 10 July 1858; accounts in connection with 'Y Seat Ganu', 1859-62; notes for essays or addresses (e.g. 'Ystyriaethau ar ddydd diolchgarwch am y cynhauaf yn 1856 (Medi 30)'); notes on temperance; a transcript by E. Vardd [sic] of the comments in the Carnarvon & Denbigh Herald, 12 January 1856, on his lecture at the Hope Hall, Liverpool on January 2; observations on, 'Church Discipline' and a note concerning a [C.M.] Mo[nthly] Meeting at Brynaera, 7 September 1845; an adjudication (beginning wanting) of the poetical compositions submitted for competition at a [Merthyr] Eisteddfod, [Christmas Day, 1850] (see Seren Gomer, 1851, p. 45); and an adjudication of the poetical compositions at the Denbigh Eisteddfod, 1860. Interpersed are items of poetry by Eben Fardd, some in the form of press-cuttings, together with some loose papers (e.g. a copy of a letter to the editor of the Carnarvon and Denbigh Herald, [1849], and a list of 'Friends and correspondents') and printed matter (e.g. circulars relating to a proposed testimonial to [David Williams] 'Alaw Goch', and to the Aberffraw Eisteddfod of 1849). The volume also contains one or two entries in the hand of John Jones ('Myrddin Fardd').

A composite volume made up of notebooks, etc. in the autograph of Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd') containing notes on 'Evidences of Christianity' ('From Abbott', 'Paley's Evidences') and on Latin grammar, copies of memorial inscriptions (Clynnog churchyard, Llanarmon churchyard), pedigrees, 'Biosianos' (a few autobiographical notes ending 1839) etc.; 'Caniadau sef Awdlau, Cywyddau, ac Englynion ynghyd a Chaniadau ar amryw fesurau eraill o waith Ebenezer Thomas neu Cybi o Eifion y rhai a ysgrifenodd, pan oedd yn ysgol Tydweiliog ei oedran 18. Gorffen haf 4. 1821', being early poetical compositions by 'Eben Fardd', 1819-24, one or two crossed out; another notebook containing 'The Pedigree of Rowland Jones of Broom Hall Esq. Extracted from the Works of his Father, Row. Jones of Hendre, and afterwards of the Inner Temple London, Esqr. Barrister at Law', followed by notes in pencil and other pedigrees (Prysgyni, Tanybryn Llanllyfni, the Glynllifon family); a cutting of verses entitled 'Llan y Plwy' printed in Y Cymro, with an explanatory note in the autograph of 'E[ben] Vardd'; and some later poetical compositions by 'Eben Fardd'.
