A fragment, 30 pages, of an English manuscript containing recipes and medical and veterinary prescriptions. Paper; stabbed.

Notebook of Thomas Smyth,

Note book, presumably of Thomas Smyth, who became vicar of Chirk in 1681. It contains miscellaneous notes in Latin and English on Hebrew and biblical subjects, together with some Latin poetry. Paper; sewn in parchment, partly mutilated.

Legal Precedents,

Large volume bound in parchment with clasp, pp. 305-1398. Several gatherings at the beginning have been torn out. It is a dictionary of legal precedents in the making, and there are no entries under some subjects. The volume as it stands begins with Baron and Fame and ends with Justification.

2769 Books are noted. At the other end of the volume (inverted) are copies of the records of the dissent of certain Lords to amendments in the Bill for Suspending Habeas Corpus, 11 Oct. 1722, and to motion for the detention of Thomas, Duke of Norfolk on suspicion of High Treason, 26 Oct. Bound in parchment.

Treatise On Estate Management (copy),

The work is based on a book by Edward Laurence in 1727- The Duty And Office Of A Land Steward. This manuscript appears to be a copy of a work compiled by Thomas Lovett, about 1770, and is illustrated by examples of accounts taken out of the books of the Chirk Castle Estate. Bound in parchment. Autograph of Arthur Lovett 1885.
