Letter from C. W. Williams Wynn from Llanidloes, to Viscount Clive [at Newtown]. Armishaw has been allowed to return, as he has not been able to establish the identity of the prisoners. The mayor and Mr Marsh are of the opinion that the services of his detachment are no longer needed in the county. The men as well have expressed a desire to return home.

Sent an escort yesterday with three prisoners to Montgomery. People are too alarmed to give evidence against the offenders. The same difficulty has been experienced at Llanidloes. His reply to the deputy sheriff has been well received. Great care is being taken to ensure the custody of prisoners.
