Personal papers

Included are his birth, marriage and death certificates; death certificate of his mother Dorothy Hellings, 1977; three passports which belonged to Peter Hellings, issued 1947, 1957 and 1967; degree examination papers, 1950; Royal Air Force Service And Release Book, 1941-1946. Also included are letters, 1941-1942, relating to the British Empire Medal awarded to him for his bravery, and graduation programme and certificate, 1950; together with two certificates, 1949, 1951, awarded to him for his poems in eisteddfodau organised by students of the Universities of Wales; and genealogical details.

Includes photocopies of a series of poems 'Enemies of forgetting' by Peter Hellings which appeared in Welsh Review, Winter 1948; a copy of Music calling, Christmas magazine, January 1945, containing his poem 'Frozen voices', together with other poems including 'The chemistry of oblivion. Epitaph for an unknown poet', 1981, and 'In Sarajevo', 1993. The file also includes a photocopy of an account of the funeral of his father Lieutenant Frank Hellings, who died while Peter Hellings was still a pupil at the Grammar School, [1930s].
