Mon.], for life, then to his son Edward. To his son Nicholas, m's in St Brydes and Undy, co. Mon. which he purchased of Gyles Edward of Magor, other m's in p. St Brydes, a m., mill, etc. which he purchased of Phillip John of Criba, lying in p's Shirenewton and Carwente, co. Mon., another m. in p. Llanvayre Discoed, co. Mon., which he bought of Howell David, and a m. and parcels of land in Undye, aforesaid, which he holds by an assignment of lease. To his son, Edward, his capital m. called Berthelly which he purchased of Sir William Morgan of Tredegar, kt, lands which he bought of Richard Thomas, late of Berthely, gent., and a m. all in p. Llantrissen, co. Mon., which he bought of Sir Charles Somerset, kt. Requires his son Edward to allow Joane (testator's wife) to enjoy all that part of the capital m. called Berthely which is known by the name of the old building, i.e. from the upper end of the hall southward.
