The letter is accompanied by a carbon copy of a typescript letter of acknowledgement from Bernard Miles, dated 16 August 1960.

Also included are photocopies, [?1984], of part of Valliiskii rasskaz, comprising the title page, copyright page and the first page of text in Cyrillic script, and a list of the authors in Latin script (ff. 133-134).

Letters of the Ladies of Llangollen,

A letter, 2 February 1817 (watermark 1801), to [the Rev. George] Robson, prebendary of St Asaph and rector of Erbistock (ff. 135-136), and another to his wife, 1 October 1827 (watermark 1823) (f. 137), from Lady Eleanor Butler and Miss Sarah Ponsonby, 'The Ladies of Llangollen'. Both letters are in the hand of [?Eleanor Butler]. They are mainly concerned with local affairs, relating in particular to the parish clerk of Llangollen, [Robert Wynne-Eyton], and his wife (ff. 135-136).

Letters to Thomas Pennant,

Two letters in Latin, 1756 and 1762, from the historian and geographer Vito Maria Amico e Statella of Catania, Sicily, to Thomas Pennant, chiefly relating to crustaceans and molluscs.
In the first letter, 1 January 1756 (ff. 175-176), he arranges to send Pennant marine specimens; in the second, [23 November] 1762 (ff. 177-178), written just before Amico's death, and mainly in the hand of an amanuensis, he sends sample shells of snails and shellfish.
