A file of source materials, originals and photocopies, assembled by O. Trevor Roberts while preparing Elfyn a'i Waith (Llanrwst, 1993), a study of R. O. Hughes, Ffestiniog (1858-1919). Included are photographs, press cuttings from newspapers and journals, poetry by 'Elfyn' and correspondence. The correspondents include R. O. Hughes ('Elfyn'), Humphrey Jones ('Bryfdir') and J. W. Jones.

A folder of press-cuttings relating to the East Flintshire Parliamentary Election, October 1951, collected by John McEvoy, who was the Conservative Party's agent in the constituency.

Notebooks of A. Foulkes-Roberts, [c. 1882]-[1941], containing extracts from parish registers, mainly from Denbighshire and Flintshire; transcripts of tombstone inscriptions and church memorials, copies of probate records from the Dioceses of Bangor and St Asaph, and the Principal Probate Registry; and notes and extracts from marriage licence bonds, clergy subscription books and other St Asaph diocesan records. The copies were made by A. Foulkes-Roberts and his brother R.D. Roberts.

A further group of miscellaneous papers relating to the John and Nettleship families, including a typescript transcript of an interview with Edwin John for the film 'Augustus and Gwen John: the fire and the fountain', 1975; photocopies of notes and articles on Edward Nettleship, opthalmic surgeon (1845-1913); and photographs of paintings and drawings, mostly by Augustus John. Prys-Jones's papers include letters from him, mainly to Don Dale-Jones, 1967-1987; letters to him from various literary figures, 1934-1987; poetry, including drafts for his published collections, [c. 1923]-[c. 1987], unpublished collections, [c. 1924]-[c. 1968], other published and unpublished poems, 1913-1969, and some poetry notebooks, [c. 1984]; prose works, including short stories, [c. 1930s]-1975, and plays, 1932-1972, many of which were either published, performed or broadcast; drafts and press cuttings of articles and reviews published in newspapers, particularly the Western Mail, 1929-1968, as well as unpublished articles, [c. 1947]-[1960s]; press cuttings of articles about and reviews of Prys-Jones' work, 1923-1987; typescript copies and drafts of The Story of Carmarthenshire and other works, 1941-1972; papers relating to Welsh history, including education in Wales and Llandovery College, 1908-1970; drafts and typescripts of talks, lectures and speeches, including radio scripts, 1937-1958; poetry, prose and lectures by other authors, 1924-1987; and other personal papers and ephemera, 1933-1986. Don Dale-Jones's papers comprise letters, mainly from Dudley G. Davies, 1975-1989.

Notebooks of Thomas (Tom) Jones, Trealaw, containing a draft of 'A Glossary of the Welsh of Glamorgan', 1907, with manuscript and typescript additions and corrections, and pasted-in newspaper cuttings, c. 1908 - c. 1936. Submitted for competition, under the pseudonym 'Meurig', at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Swansea, 1907, the essay was awarded joint first prize, with that of Thomas Christopher Evans ('Cadrawd'). A letter, 1910, from Sir Edward Anwyl has been tipped in on f. iii of MS 23476.

A proof copy of the Rev[erend] Thomas Rowland: A Grammar of the Welsh Language . . . (2nd ed., London, 1857). The inside, upper cover is inscribed 'The proof sheets. Presented by the author to the Rev. D. Ll. James [David Lloyd James, vicar of Pontrobert], Oct. 20th 1865', and on the fly-leaf is a parody by 'Brutus of Haul fame' [David Owen, editor of Yr Haul] of the seven-line hymn stanza [by Evan Jenkins of Llansamlet, commencing 'Duwioldeb yn ei grym'].

A group of family papers of Owen Roberts (1848-1917) Frondeg, Tre-garth, co. Caernarfon [cf. NLW MS 22146B], comprising notebooks and printed material, including an ornate memorial card to John Roberts, father of Owen Roberts, 1868. Also an agreement and accounts, 1882, relating to building a new house at Frondeg.

The file comprises material compiled by Mr L. B. Howell, a member of the Penderyn Historical & Cultural Society, entitled 'A guide to sites of interest in the Brecon Beacons'.

A mid twentieth-century typescript copy of the journal of the Liberal politician and educational reformer Sir Arthur Herbert Dyke Acland (1847-1926), MP for Rotherham, 1885-99, marked 'volume i' and covering the period 26 January 1871 - 27 March 1898. The journal, which contains details of personal, family and political matters, consists mainly of intermittent entries, mostly written retrospectively and often lengthy.

The collection comprises photocopies of letters, 1748-1872, in the custody of the Methodist Archives and Research Centre, London; notebooks containing transcripts of documents and research notes taken from Methodist publications, NLW manuscripts and other sources in the custody of the National Library of Wales; photocopies of other sources; letters, 1929-1991, to A. H. Williams from scholars and researchers discussing mainly various aspects of Welsh Wesleyan Methodist history; and copies od related articles, addresses, press cuttings etc.; typescripts of books and articles written by A. H. Williams and other scholars.
