Welsh folk songs

Lecture notes relating to Welsh folk songs and folk tunes, including two series delivered at Bangor, 1934 and 1935, Coedpoeth, 1937, Llangefni, 1940, and a lecture entitled 'Neilltuolion Alawon Gwerin Cymru', undated but apparently delivered at Cardiff.

Welsh Folk-Song Society

A group of papers, [1907x1944], consisting of editorial reports and notes, extracts from minutes of meetings, rules and financial statements, relating to the Welsh Folk-Song Society. Most of the papers are in typescript form or in J. Lloyd Williams's hand. A copy of the second part of his report, apparently to the meeting of the Society at Llangollen, [1908], is also included, together with a transcript of a letter, 1907, from Llew Tegid to William Preece.

Welsh Folk-Song Society Journal

Lists in J. Lloyd Williams's hand, of songs, including sources, which appeared in the first two volumes of the Journal; and a card index of songs with references to their publication in the Journal, vol. III. Most of the entries have been crossed out.

Welsh Melodies correspondence

Correspondence, 1907-1908, mainly relating to the publication of Sixteen Welsh Melodies, [?1909], mainly between J. Lloyd Williams, Arthur Somervell and A. P. Graves as co-authors. Letters from Lucy Broadwood and Mary Davies are also included.

Welsh Music

Incomplete outlines of four series of lectures delivered by J. Lloyd Williams to classes at Aberystwyth, 1929, Bala, 1928-1929, Blaenau Ffestiniog, 1927-1928, and Trawsfynydd, 1928-1929. The topics include the history of Welsh music, congregational singing and folk singing. Two short essays by a member of the Trawsfynydd class, 1927, relating to the gypsies of Llangwm, are also included.

'Welsh National Music'

A bundle of notes entitled 'Welsh Nat. Music', comprising extracts from Seren Gomer, 1819-1849, notes on the history of the Gwyneddigion, 'penillion' singing, and a list of Welsh airs which appeared in Y Cerddor, 1893. A summary of contents of Cambrian Minstrelsie, 1893-1895, is also included.

Ylltyr Williams Collection

A tune-book, [1880-1884], which once belonged to Ylltyr Williams, Dolgellau, containing traditional harp tunes; together with transcripts by J. Lloyd Williams and others from the Ylltyr Williams Manuscripts, [1900x1940].
