Glascoed, Llanforda and Plas-y-ward estates B/1-3

From 1739 (R 24/15) the collection is divided into three: B1: property in cos Denb. and Mont., and p. Llanymawddwy (t. Cywarch), co. Mer. B2: property in co. Mer. except p. Llanymawddwy (t. Cywarch). B3: property in co. Caern. Division B was re-organised in 1772 as follows: property in co. Denb., in Collection IV; property in co. Mer. in collection I; property in co. Mont. in Collections I and III; and property in co. Caern., in Collection V.

Manor of Cyfeiliog chief rents

The chief rents are on property in p's Penegoes, Llanwrin, Cemais, Darowen, Llanbryn-mair and Machynlleth (including t's Isygarreg and Uwchygarreg), all in co. Mont. Most of the chief rents were collected at Michaelmas (the date of collection is not always given in the rentals), so that R32/2 contains rents due at Michaelmas 1754, not Lady Day 1754. The collectors are not named.

Lordship of Cynllaith Owain chief rents

The collection comprises property in p's Llansilin (t's Lloran, Moelfre, Estynallan, Priddbwll, Sycharth, Rhiwlas) and [Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog] (t. Llywarch), all in co. Denb. Collectors: John Humphreys, 1719, Peter Lloyd, 1725-1726, Randle Jones, 1736-1738, and Thomas Jones, 1739-1772. For the continuation of this collection post-1772, see Collection IV.

Purchased estate (1768)

The estate comprises property in p's Ruabon, Llangedwyn, Llanfihangel-yng-Ngwynfa, Llansilin and Wrexham, co. Denb, in p's Llangurig, Llanbryn-mair and Pennant, co. Mont., and in p's Llanuwchllyn and Llandderfel, co. Mer. Collector: Thomas Jones, 1768-1772. For the continuation of this estate post-1772, see Collections I and II.

Collection IV

From 1783 onwards, Collection IV is divided into three as follows: (1) Glascoed, Llanforda, Plas-y-ward A and B, Denbighshire; Glascoed, Llanforda, Plas-y-ward B, Denbighshire; Lordship of Cynllaith Owain chief rents; and Llwydiarth estate (Llangedwyn collection); (2) Glascoed, Llanforda, Plas-y-ward A, Shropshire; and (3) Manor of Much Wenlock.

Manor of Cyfeiliog: Mathafarn estate, Rhiwsaeson estate and Tirymynych estate

The Manor of Cyfeiliog collection comprises the following: (i) Mathafarn estate, comprising property in p's Llanwrin, Darowen, Llanbryn-mair, Mallwyd, Machynlleth, Penegoes and Cemais, all in co. Mont.; (ii) Rhiwsaeson estate, comprising property in p's Llanbryn-mair, Darowen and Llanwrin, co. Mont.;. (Iii) Tirymynych estate, comprising property in p's Penegoes, Machynlleth, Llanbryn-mair, Cemais and Llanwrin, co. Mont. Collectors: Rice Hughes, 1772, Francis Chambre, 1773-1790, and Rev. Arwystli chief rents

Property on the Berthlwyd estate (p's Llanidloes and Llandinam), and in p's Penystrywaid, Llandinam, Carno, Llanwnnog, Trefeglwys, Llanidloes and Llangurig, all in co. Mont. Also cottage rents in p's Llanwnnog, Trefeglwys, Llandinam and Penystrywaid up to 1828 (see also the Arwystli collection). Collectors: From 1808, the same as the Arwystli collection [William Jones, 1808-1816, William Johnes, 1817-1836, David Jones, 1837-1856, Joseph Owen Jones, 1856-1860, Nathan Burlinson, 1861, Thomas Adey Cox, 1862, William Jones, 1863-1871, Owen Hughes 1871].
