Writs naming Thomas Pryse

Three writs, two relating to a plea of debt in the Great Sessions for Cardiganshire sued by Thomas Pryse against a moiety of the lands, goods and chattels of Richard Jones of Llanbadarn Fawr, defendant, 1731-1732, the other following an action of ejectment by William Herbert, lessee of Thomas Pryse, against William Thomas, 1734.

Y Borva Newydd

A mortgage by Owen David Lloyd to Robert Sonlley the younger of Cristionydd, Denbighshire, and Edward Bromfielde of Ruabon, of parcels of land called Y Borva Newith (Newydd), a parcel of garden called Grofte yr Odyn and a parcel of meadow called Gwerne Tuder Boole and Y Pwll Llydan, all in the township of Main, with counterpart, 1598/9, followed by the reconveyance, 1606.

Y Ty yn y Tyr Calch

Title deeds of a messuage called Y Ty yn y Tyr Calch, described in some of the deeds with a croft adjoining called Y Tir Calch, parcels of land in Maes Lletty Einon, Y Camdir, Pwll Madog, Y Tyr Newydd, Werglodd Gronn, a moiety of a meadow called Gwerglodd Havod Allgwm, arable land called Y Rerw Vain within Y Tyr Newydd, Y Talarey lying in a field called Maes y Bont at Y Droell, Y Dryllie Byrion lying in Pwll y Coetgae and Maes Lletty Einion, Y Gylvach lying in a field called Maes y Llannerche land in Maes y Llannerche, 1569-1617. The properties were mortgaged by Thomas ap Rees ap Lle'n ap Tuder to Howell ap William ap Ieuan ap Howell ap Madocke and the file contains the defeasance of mortgage, 1569, followed by quitclaims by Thomas ap Rees ap Lle'nn ap Tuder, 1574, and David ap Thomas ap Rees to Howell ap William, 1582. There is a mortgage by Meredith David ap Howell to Meredith David Wyn of Llaethbwll, of a messuage (occupant named), Tir y Calch and a parcel of land called Errow Henry, 1608, followed by a deed of sale to Richard Hunt of the town of Shrewsbury, of the messuage, Tir y Calch, and two ridges of land in Maes y Tir Newydd, 1617.

Y Wyg

Title deeds of a parcel of land called Y Wyg or Y Wigge in the township of Main, Meifod, comprising a quitclaim by Robert ap Lewys of Cil, Montgomeryshire, to Owen Lloyd of Main, 1595/6; and a mortgage by Owen ap David Lloid to Humfrey Gruffith, with asociated bonds, 1602.

Ysgubor-y-coed (Henhafod)

Coveyance by way of exchange by Sir Pryse Pryse of Gogerddan and his trustees with Lewis Pugh Pugh of Abermaed, of parts of Henhafod Farm, Ynysgreigiog Farm and Ynysfach allotment in the township of Ysgubor-y-coed, for other pieces of land adjoining the properties, with rights of access specified, 1890. Title deeds of houses and lands in the township of Ysgubor-y-coed in the parish of Llanfihangel Genau’r-glyn, [1547x1552]-1609, 1845-1851. Properties include Ynys Sydall, previously belonging to John Geffre, chaplain, and conveyed by Walter ap Ieuan Ll'n Lloyd, to Ievan Gwyn ap Sir John, [1547x1552]; lands at Ynyshir, previously mortgaged, and comprised in a bond by Richard Phillippe of Aberystwyth and William Phellippe of Llanfihangel Genau'r-glyn, to Morice ap John ap Morice ap Owen, 1571; Tythin Garth yr Hebog and Y Ty yn Lloyn yr Odyn, purchased by Sir Richard Pryse of Gogerddan, 1585, 1609; and Tythyn y Wern Fach, in a bond to Maurice ap David Jenkin, 1588. The file also contains leases by Pryse Pryse and Pryse Loveden, of a house at Garreg, 1845, and a flannel manufactory at Glaspwll, 1851, both recently erected by the tenants.

Davies of Antaron Cottage, Aberystwyth, to Pryse Pryse, discussing parliamentary affairs as well as mining, [pre-1849]. The main correspondent is Adam Mason of Horwich, 1880-1887; others include William Charles Hussey Jones of Llanerchgrugog Hall, Ruabon, 1867, and H.C. Fryer of Lodge Park, 1879-1881

Title deeds of the tenement of Ystrad Peithyll, a mill and other properties in the township of Ystrad Peithyll or Dyffryn Peithyll, 1575-1637. They comprise the post-nuptial settlement of Watkin D'd Beddoe of Llanbadarn Fawr, and Helen vch Ieuan Ll'n ap D'd, 1575; mortgages by Jenkin Ievan David Bedo of Tythyn ym Mheithill, Tythyn Y Tuy Yn Y Vron, Tythyn Llety'r Porter, and a water corn grist mill called Y Velin Vach yn Dyffryn Pythill, followed by an assignment to Sir Richard Pryse, 1617-1618; a deed for the sale of Istrade Pylleth by Rees ap John ap Harrye of Maes-mawr, to Sir Richard Pryse of Gogerddan, 1609/10; a mortgage by Walter Lloyd of Llanbadarn Fawr to Sir Richard Pryse, of Tuthyn Dan Allt y Gwnvryn, 1623/4, and a subsequent quitclaim by James Lloyd to Richard Pryse of Gogerddan, esq., in which the property is called Tythyn Dan Allt Unfron 1637.
