Evans has met Welsh Church Commissioners who have decided to hold continuous sittings. Evans unable to do this and awaits confirmation of his resignation.

Urges Evans to resist moves by the 'reactionary clique' who oppose the Government's land purchase powers.
Evans's resignation would have an important effect on the Welsh Church Commission and L. G will have to place it before the Cabinet. Sorry that Evans resigning but understands his '..desire to be out of it'.
Has seen Lord Chancellor about Evans's proposed resignation: '...he is strongly of opinion you ought not to resign'. Wants Evans to see him. [Reverse of letter has drafts for letters nos. 95 and 97].
