An indexed volume entitled 'Rough Methods of Analysis' containing diagrams and explanations of chemical methods and processes used in the steel industry, principally compiled by J. H. Ridsdale, Middlesbrough. It includes a letter, 1907, from Arthur Caddick, Lincoln, to 'Jack' (probably J. H. Ridsdale) concerning 'the Sulphur method'. The volume was passed down to generations of workers at the Port Talbot steel works.
