Much Wenlock collection

The collection comprises property in p's Much Wenlock and Harley, Shropshire. Also details relating to Wenlock and Westwood tithes, and lists of limeburners. Much Wenlock collection

The collection comprises property in p. Much Wenlock, t. Stanwardine [p. Baschurch], and Oswestry, Shropshire. However, in RA2 & RA3 (1552/3 and 1580), several place-names are mentioned including the following: Weston Oxenbold, Shipton, Burton, Sturchley, Deuxhill, Sutton, Madeley, Presthope, Lushcot, Hatton, Stoke St Milborough, Downton, More, Caughley, Acton Round, Harley, Wigwig, Benthall, Posenhall, Atterley, Walton and Wyke, all in Shropshire. RA4 (1581) contains a rental of lands belonging to the Chantry of Wenlock, due unto Richard Modlicott, while RA5 [16 cent.?] contains a particular of all the lands belonging to the monastery of Wenlock. Recurrent names include the Lloyd family of Llanforda, and ap Howell/Powell, Jennings and Griffith of Trefarclawdd. All the files have assorted contents, so readers may need to examine several bundles to locate deeds belonging to the same property.
