Minutes of meetings leading to the foundation of the University, including meetings of the Joint Committee of the University Colleges of Wales and of the General Conference of the Joint Education Committees under the Welsh Intermediate Education Act ('The Welsh University Committee'), Nov. 1891-May 1893; the Draft Charter Committee of the proposed University for Wales, Apr.-Dec. 1892; the Executive Committee of the University of Wales, July 1893-Jan. 1894; and of the Joint Committee of the University Colleges of Wales and of the Conference of the Joint Education Committees under the Welsh Intermediate Education Act's Finance Committee (thereafter the Finance Committee of the University of Wales), May-Dec. 1893. -- The conferences discussed the general nature of the proposed University, the representation on the authorities of the University, and the relationship between constituent colleges and the University, together with potentially contentious matters such as the teaching and examination of theological subjects, whilst the committees on the other hand were responsible for drafting the administrative framework of the University by means of the Royal Charter, and for securing the financial viability of the proposed body.
