A volume, probably written 1730-1740, containing Welsh historical tracts, including a Dissertation concerning the Literature of the Antient Britons (pp. 2-70), written after 1730 (date on p. 63), a treatise (imperfect) on the superstition of the Welsh (pp. 71-106), an account of the Lordships Marchers (pp. 117-74) and a dissertation on the Welsh Laws (pp. 175-217). All the tracts seem to have been written by a clergyman holding a benefice in the diocese of St Asaph (pp. 82, 90) and some of them were addressed to a son or grandson of Baron Price (1655-1733) (pp. 82, 90). Also included is A Treatise of Lordshipps Marchers in Wales ... (early 17 cent.) (pp. 221-339) written by George Owen of Henllys and is the original treatise in George Owen's autograph which was reprinted, with very full annotations, in Owen's 'Pembrokeshire', Part III (Cymmrodorion Record Series, No. 1, pp. 127-205; George Owen's autograph, p. 133).

A volume of glossaries in Irish and Latin, c. 1700, by Edward Lhuyd (1660-1709); also a short list of Latin words with Breton or Welsh meanings (ff. 57-8).

A volume, 1750-1793, containing autograph verse, in Welsh, by John Jenkins (Ioan Siencyn), together with works by other poets, detailed in a title which appears on p. v: Cydymmaith i'r Awen, Sef Casgliad o Gywyddau ac Englynion, a chaniadau awenyddol ar amryw Destynnau : O waith y Beirdd mwyaf godidawg O'r Deheudir : yn yr oes ddiwethaf a aeth heibio, ar oes Bressennol sef, Gwaith Mr. Iefan Gryffydd o'r Twrgwyn, a'r Parchedig Mr. Alban Tomas Curat Blaen Porth, a Thre Mein : Mr. Siengcin Tomas or Cwmdu, Mr. Iefan Tomas o Lanarth, y Parchedig Uchelddusg Mr. Iefan Iefans o Ledrod. A gasglwyd, ac a gyfansoddwyd gan mwyaf gan Ioan Siengcin o Abertifi. Y mae'r Awdwyr uchod wedi meirw oll: ond myfi Ioan Siengcin : ac os gwelaf i yr 20ed Dydd fawrth nesaf mi fyddaf 75. 1790. Much of the contents of this book was utilised by John Howell (Ioan ab Hywel) in his Collection of Poetry entitled Blodau Dyfed, printed at Carmarthen in 1824. Parts of the book were probably written as early as 1752, as appears from some englynion on p. iii, which are dated Med. 14, 1752, and it was completed in 1793 (p. 2).

A grammar in five parts written about 1791 by Humphrey Thomas, schoolmaster, and his brother, David Thomas (Dafydd Ddu Eryri), poet (1760-1822). The preface is dated from Carnarvon, March 25th, 1791. Part I ends on p. 86, Part II on p. 168, Part III on p. 248, Part IV on p. 312 and Part V on p. 382. A Grammar by H. and D. Thomas is noted in Llyfryddiaeth y Cymry 1794, No. 10, and on p. 45 of Awdlau ar Destynau Cymdeithas y Gwyneddigion, London, 1791, by D. Thomas, there is a reference to the proposed publication of this MS, which bears the following title on p. 3 : Arweinydd ir Gymraeg a amcanwyd i dywys yr anhyddysg i lwybr gwybodaeth fuddiol, ac i gyfarwyddyd helaeth yn ardderchawgrwydd yr Iaith a chywreinrwydd ei Barddoniaeth . . . gan Humphrey Thomas, Athraw Ysgol, a Dafydd Thomas, Bardd.

Welsh translation, written c. 1775, of Dares Phrygius and Historia Regum Britanniae. This version of Dares Phrygius is said to agree closely with the test of Jesus College 61 (Red Book of Hergest, Vol. II, p. xx), whilst the version of the Historia Regum Britanniae is one of the compiled versions of Geoffrey's Brut (Red Book, II, xviii). In a note on p. 151 John Prichard claims authorship of this revised text.

This manuscript contains the record of the institution and sequestration of clergy, the licensing of schoolmasters, appointments of officials, &c., in the diocese of St. Davids from Jan. 27th, 1753 to Jan. 17, 1761.

This manuscript consists of memoirs by Sir John Wynn of Gwydir. No description is given in the text, but it corresponds with the Memoirs printed by Angharad Llwyd in her edition of the History of the Gwydir Family, and reprinted in the 1878 edition, pp. 90-105. The printed text, however, ends at the middle of p. 24 of this MS. Also included is a history of the Gwydir Family by Sir John Wynn: this corresponds to pp. 12-84 of the last printed edition (1878). That manuscript also contains a copy of the Survey of Penmaenmawr, said to have been made by Sir John Wynn of Gwydir, printed from a copy belonging to Mr. Thomas Wright, F.S.A. by J. O. Halliwell in 1859 and reprinted by Mr. W. Bezant Lowe at Llanfairfechan in 1906. Pages 149-152 list farms and names of occupiers, with returns as to the number of lambs, the amount of lactuals, money received for the lambs, and payments. The date is 1736. The farms are situate on the Denbighshire side of the Conway in the parishes of Eglwysbach, Llanddoged, &c.

The book was written between 1820 and 1840 by a Congregational minister, probably the Reverend Evan Griffiths of Swansea. It consists of notes for sermons and extracts from various religious books and periodicals.

Poems, exercises, etc., in Latin and English (p. 143 in Welsh), 1777-1782, by the Rev. John Williams of Jesus College, Oxford (afterwards of Llanrwst).

Commonplace book, late 18 cent., of the Reverend John Williams, Llanrwst, containing transcripts and translations of poetry and prose, letters and anecdotes. A transcript of Lusus Poetici by J. Jortin and of an awdl on Christ's Passion translated from the Greek are loose in the manuscript.

A manuscript, late 18 cent., in the hand of Edward Jones (Bardd y Brenin) (1752-1824) containing notes on Welsh historical and legendary figures and on places in Wales (pp. 1-2, 5, 6-8, 21, 22, 24, 31, 34, 37, 58-9, 60, 66, 68, 72, 73, 83, 85), poetry (pp. 3, 4, 35, 44, 49), a survey of Harlech Castle (pp. 9-20), a Latin prayer (p. 23), sketches (pp. 25, 64, 66, 68, 70, 74, 75, 84), epitaphs (pp. 34, 36), triads (pp. 82-3), copies of correspondence, 1626, between Bishop Hanmer and the rector and churchwardens of Llandderfel (pp. 76-7), together with other miscellaneous notes and accounts. A cywydd in the hand of Edward Williams (Iolo Morgannwg) is on p. 44.

Two interludes, in Welsh, 18 cent., the first (incomplete) relating to Welsh chronicle from the time of Brutus to the time of George III in the hand of David Jones of Trefriw, the second (beginning imperfect) relating to the story of Cain and Abel. Thomas Edwards (Twm o'r Nant (1739-1810) is known to have written an interlude on the latter subject.

A miscellaneous collection, in Welsh and English, [early 18 cent.]-[mid 18 cent.], of notes and papers mostly in the hand of Lewis Morris (1701-1765) and probably collected and bound together by him.

A book of sermons, in Welsh, [1712] x [1719], in the hand of the Reverend Samuel Williams, Rector of Llangynllo and Vicar of Llandyfriog, Cardiganshire, the father of the Reverend Moses Williams. A list of the sermons, in the hand of Moses Williams, is on p. 3 of the volume. It is possible that they were translations of English sermons and were meant to be printed, as, at the end of many of the sermons the words 'per. and ap.' have been written in pencil, perhaps meaning 'perused and approved' for printing. Most of the sermons were preached at Llanarth and Llanina on several occasions between 1712 and 1719. Also included (p. 109) is part of a letter addressed to the 'Reverend Mr. Samuel Williams, Vicar of Llan Dyvrïog in Cardigan Shire, to be left at Mr. Salathiel Evan's in Lammas Street, Carmarthen, South Wales'.

A volume containing sermons (pp. 7-35, 45-73, 93-100, 317-348, 378-388), a catalogue of books, Dublin, 1700 (pp. 39-43) and a list of books (pp. 301-2), genealogical data regarding the family of Dr Charles Vaughan of Londonderry (pp. 86-9), with further notes on Dr Vaughan (pp. 400, 402), also miscellaneous extracts (pp. 158-74, 267-8, 269-72, 273-310). A copy of 'The Whole Book of Psalmes ... 1627' has been bound into the volume after p. 390. With NLW MS 72A.

Sermons, in English and Welsh, preached at Builth (1629), Llanafan (1629, 1630, 1660) and Llanfihangel, Abergwesyn, Brecknock (1633). Lengthy Latin quotations are included in both English and Welsh sermons.

A choir book, written, 1653, by Joannes de Larasti, of private prayers and responses for special occasions.

A volume, 19 cent., probably in the hand of William Probert, containing an analysis of Hebrew grammar.

An apparently unpublished work, in two volumes, c. 1846, by William Robinson, documenting the history of Britain 'from the first traditional beginning' and including accounts of the Saxons, Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans. Both volumes contain numerous original drawings and a map of Europe. With NLW MS 91B.
