The music manuscripts and papers, 1933-2010, of Alun Hoddinott, comprising a large group of music scores and sketches, [1940?]-2007; and papers, 1933-2010, relating to his life and work, comprising mainly correspondence, 1933-2010, scrapbooks, 1940-2008, concert programmes, 1936-2008, catalogues of works, 1946-2007; and articles and reviews, 1954-2006. Two additional manuscripts: anthem 'In the Beginning' (Opus 23A), and Toccata alla Giga for organ (Opus 37), purchased July 2016 have been incorporated into the main series of music A3 and A5. An additional group received in 2017, of mainly personal papers and correspondence is listed under 'Alun Hoddinott, 2017 (additional)'. Additional papers comprising handwritten scores of Alun Hoddinott's Nocturne 1 for Piano (Opus 9) (1956) and Nocturne 2 for Piano (Opus 16, No. 1) (1959) (December 2021 donation) have been added to the description. A sketchbook of Symphony II Op29 was purchased September 2022. Nocturne and Dance Op. 41, Concerto Grosso Op. 65, Horn Concerto (Donation July 2024) and Sinfonietta Op. 56 (November 2024).
