A volume containing copies of letters, 1820-1830, from Athelstan Corbet, Ynysymaengwyn, Merionethshire to various recipients, including Jonathan Anwyl, Llwgwy; T. E. Tipped in is a letter, 2 April 1831, from Corbet to Lord John Russell concerning the Reform Bill (f. 2).

Transcripts by Robert Vaughan of tracts and documents relating to the Council in the Marches of Wales, including 'The Inconveniences of exemptinge English sheires [Gloucester, Worcester, Monmouth, and Salop], shewed to Queen Elizabeth'; propositions concerning the jurisdiction of the King's Bench in the Marches; precedents for installing plaintiffs in possession; 'The effecte of the King's speech ... 3 November 1608'; 'A Treatise of Wales and the Marches thereof'; an abstract of records in the Tower concerning the Marches; 'A discourse or relation of the ancient and moderne estate of the Principalitie ... by Serieant Dodderidge'; instructions to the Council of the North, 1595/6; a survey of lands in Tal y Bont, Merioneth; a note on the lordship of Glasbury; and 'A description of the Councell and Court established in the Principality and Marches of Wales', and 'An exemplification touching proceedings in Chancery at the request of ye right honorable Ralphe Lo: Eure'.

Cydfod Powys, Gwynedd a Deheubarth,

A 16th century manuscript in several hands comprising: compilations of poetry; a concord between Gwynedd, Powys and Deheubarth; the proclamation of the Caerwys Eisteddfod of 1524; the statute of Gruffudd ap Cynan; a Welsh copy of the Book of Fortune; a tract on the treatment of horses; and an English version of the prophecies of Merlin.
Pp. 43-6, 66-9, 100-3 are in the hand of Gruffudd Hiraethog and pp. 267-8, 291-310 are in the hand of Simwnt Fychan.

Cyfraith Hywel Dda

Various version and fragments of the Laws of Hywel Dda. The manuscript comprises three parts: A and B were written by Gwilym Was Da during the first half of the 14th century; C was written by another scribe during the period from the late 15th century to the early 16th century. The manuscript comprises two volumes kept in one box.

The manuscript has an ornamental bordering enclosing the writing on the first page, which is unusual in Welsh manuscripts.

Cyfraith Hywel Dda,

The original text of the manuscript was a subject index to Genesis and Exodus of the Vulgate version of the Bible (ff. 1-123). However, this text has been inverted and further texts have been added, beginning at the back and including the Laws of Hywel Dda (ff. 184b-118b); a list of the sheriffs of Montgomery to 1644; a list of names of monks, with Latin lines underneath; and a list of the members of both Houses of Parliament in 1641. The manuscript is in several hands.

Cyfraith Hywel Dda,

A Welsh version of the Laws of Hywel Dda, in two or more hands.
On pp. 113 and 160 there are notes in the hand of W. Wotton; a letter from Thomas Lewis transcribed onto p. 267 is only partially legible but contains the words 'Morgan', 'Tredegar', 'Radyr', 'Sainghenydd', and two englynion.

Cyfreithiau Hywel Dda,

The manuscript is in two parts and comprises two versions of the Laws of Hywel Dda. The first is the Befol version in a hand of the last quarter of the 15th century. The second part is in two hands of the first half of the 16th century.
There are also two indentures included at the beginning and end of the manuscript.
