Estate records of the Dolaucothi estate, Carmarthenshire, and family papers, [16-20 cent.], of the Johnes and Hills-Johnes families of including extensive correspondence comprising over 15,000 letters, 1688-[20 cent.], and military papers of Lieutenant-Colonel Sir James Hill-Johnes (d. 1919).

Fourteen holograph letters, 1841?-1847, largely of a personal nature, written by E[lizabeth] Ramsay, from Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Trinity Gask, to her son A. C. Ramsay; together with three letters from And[rew] C. Ramsay, from Aberaeron, Bala, and London, to his mother, 1845-1847 (the progress of the writer's work, a description of the seashore at Aberaeron, a curacy for Stuart Williams in the neighbourhood of Oswestry, the death of Dr. Brown and of Claude Buchanan, etc.). Some of the letters of Elizabeth Ramsay are addressed to the Ordnance Geological Survey at Fishguard, at Llandovery, and at Builth, and to Dolaucothie, Carmarthenshire.

Eighteen holograph letters, 1844, written to A. C. Ramsay by J[ohn] C. Ramsay, Sanfernando [Trinidad] (personal, the progress of the writer's business, photography, etc.), and W[illiam] Ramsay, Glasgow (personal, news of friends, the writer's studies, visits to Edinburgh, Trinity Gask, Haddington, etc.). Some of the letters are addressed to the Ordnance Geological Survey at Fishguard and at Builth, to Dolau Cothi, and to the Museum of Economic Geology, Charing Cross, London.

Some of the letters are addressed to the Museum of Economic Geology, Charing Cross, London, to the Ordnance Geological Survey, Llandovery, and to Dolau Cothie.

Steuart Williams, Llandovery, etc., and John Wilson, Haddington and Aberystwyth; together with thirteen holograph letters, 1844, and undated, largely of a personal nature, written to A. C. Ramsay by William H. Baily from [London], John H. Barry, Liverpool, his cousin John Crombie, Edinburgh, his cousin J. Crombie, from [Glasgow], T. Evans, Eleanor Howden , [Edinburgh] and Bangor (an account of a tour of North Wales), G. McGlure, Helensburgh, Thomas Nimmo, Berbice [British Guiana], T. Todrick, Haddington, and W. Walton, Bath, a copy of a letter, 1844, from George Jones of the British and Foreign Institute to 'Mr. Punch', and a letter, 1839, from And[rew] C. Ramsay, Glasgow, to 'Robin' [Howie] (personal) ( found in the portable desk of Dr. Howie and re-addressed to the writer from Glasgow, 1844). Some of the letters are addressed to the Geological Museum, Charing Cross, London, and to the Ordnance Geological Survey at Dolau Cothi, Builth, and Rheadir Gwy.
