Welsh Painters Talking (Seren Books, 1997)

Material relating to the compilation and publication of the revised 2nd edition of Welsh Painters Talking, edited by Tony Curtis and originally published by Seren Books in 1997, largely comprising correspondence and biographical notes from contributing artists, namely Sally Moore, Iwan Bala, Charles Burton, Arthur and Bim Giardelli, John Knapp-Fisher and Peter Prendergast.

Including annotations/amendments in the hands of Tony Curtis and Sally Moore.

Two copies of a lecture given, 16 November 2004, by Tony Curtis to the Contemporary Art Society for Wales (CASW) titled 'Four Gold Medals - The 1960s', which references the four Gold Medals for Visual Art awarded by the National Eisteddfod of Wales to artists Ceri Richards, Josef Herman, David Jones and Merlyn Evans.

Draft and fair-copied copies of paper, titled 'Charles Burton: The Painting's in the Pity', given by Tony Curtis at a conference on the work of artist Ivor Davies ('Burnt Poetry': Ivor Davies and Destruction/Creation in Art and Word) held at Cardiff University, 27 February 2016 (see under section titled 'Hen Galan' at https://cardiffmemori.wordpress.com/page/4/). Drafts annotated/amended in the hands of Tony Curtis and that of his wife, Margaret Curtis.

Papers, 1992-1997, relating to the research and production of Welsh Painters Talking (Seren Books, 1997), edited by Tony Curtis (see, for example: https://www.waterstones.com/book/welsh-painters-talking/tony-curtis/9781854112002), comprising: correspondence between Tony Curtis and the artists included in the volume and typescript drafts of interviews with the artists, with corrections by the interviewees, namely Iwan Bala, Charles Burton, Felicity Charlton, Arthur Giardelli, John Knapp-Fisher, Sally Moore, Peter Prendergast, Shani Rhys James, Will Roberts, Kevin Sinnott, Kyffin Williams and Ernest Zobole. Together with correspondence between Seren Books and others involved in the publishing of the volume and from David Alston, who wrote the foreword. Also included are draft versions of Tony Curtis's introduction to the volume; a review of the volume in a Seren booklet of recent publications; and a photocopy of the proposed cover of the volume. The material ranges from the project's inception in 1992 to the book's publication in 1997.
