Six letters and three telegrams, [?1963]-1972, from Richard Burton (in some instances jointly with wife Elizabeth), to his childhood friend and actor Dennis Burgess, containing personal and professional news, but mainly concerned with acting roles secured by Burton for Burgess in the films Bluebeard (1972) and Massacre in Rome (1973).
The letters were sent from the Dorchester Hotel, London, [?1963] (ff. 1-2), Sardinia, 1967 (ff. 3-4), Budapest, 1972 (ff. 5-10), and Munich, 1972 (ff. 11-12). Also included are letters to Burgess from Lord Snowdon, 18 May 1973 (f. 13), and Sir John Gielgud, 15 October 1979 (f. 15), and a photocopy of a telegram from Elizabeth Burton, 4 November 1975 (f. 14), inviting Burgess and his wife to Richard Burton's fiftieth birthday party.
