Newspaper cuttings, May 1974, concerning the visit of HRH The Prince of Wales to St John's Colliery at Maesteg on 24 May 1974. Mainly consisting of cuttings giving a brief account of the Prince's visit as reported in both the national and local press at the time.

Typescript and manuscript letters received by Philip Weekes, April 1984-[c. 2000], together with a number of photocopies and rough drafts of replies sent, as well as a few handwritten notes and some other material. Included are letters from David Lord Energlyn (1), John Morris QC MP (1), James Callaghan MP (2), Dafydd Wigley MP (1), and Denzil Davies MP (1), concerning various aspects of the coal industry in South Wales; letters from Roger Williams, National Coal Board Solicitor (2); and a telemessage from HRH Prince Charles the Prince of Wales, congratulating Philip Weekes on being awarded a CBE.
