Sixteen holograph letters from Mary Louisa Williams (aft. Lady Ramsay) to her husband A. C. Ramsay, 1851-[1869] and undated (personal, news of members of the family and of friends, lunch at Carreglwyd, services at Llanrhyddlad and [Llanfairynghornwy], the general election [of 1868], Lady Llanover is incensed at the ingratitude of John Thomas ['Pencerdd Gwalia'] in preferring the pedal harp to the triple stringed, the law respecting the burial of suicides and the removal of 'Henry's body, the progress of Allan [Ramsay] at school, a Sunday School examination by the bishop of Bangor, visits to Llyn Ogwen, etc.). The majority of the letters are written from Borthwen (Llanfaethlu), Llanfairynghornwy, Beaumaris, Glanogwen, Dolaucothy, and [London].

Sixty-seven holograph letters and three imperfect holograph letters written by And[re]w C. Ramsay from London, etc., to [Mary] Louisa Williams, 1851-1852 and undated (personal, the impending marriage of the writer and the recipient, the writer's professional activities, references to colleagues and friends, a proposed visit to the Alps, the international situation, observations on the Whigs in Parliament, Prince Albert's proposal to establish an industrial college, etc.).

One hundred and seven holograph letters written largely by An[dre]w C. Ramsay to [Mary Louisa] Ramsay, 1853-1881 (the activities of the Geological Survey of the United Kingdom and the Geological Survey of Ireland, personal and family affairs, observations on Gloucester Cathedral, the writer's report to Warwick Board of Health, a long chat with Charles Darwin, comments on Lady Llanover's attitude to the harp, comments on the international situation (1870), an account of a visit to Hartlepools, impressions of Lorna Doone (1872), the writer's report on Gibraltar, the recipient's European holiday (1880), etc.). A few of the letters are written from Llangollen, Llanfairynghornwy, Holyhead, and Dolaucothy. Among the few letters not in the hand of Andrew C. Ramsay are three written to him by his wife from the Congregational Manse, Oban, 1872.
