File contains posters for the 1985 elections to the South Glamorgan County Council for the S. D. P. /Liberal Alliance as well as an all-Wales manifesto for the County Council elections entitled "Campaign for Wales".

File contains local editions of the Focus newsletter, initially produced by the S. D. P./Liberal Alliance and later by the Liberal Democrats, long with a file containing copies of the Cardiff Herald Liberal Democrat newspaper.

The second group, described here, comprises the personal political papers of the Rev. J. Roger Roberts. These include electoral ephemera, minutes, newspaper cuttings, reports and letters mostly relating to the Liberal Party / Liberal/SDP (Social Democratic Party) Alliance / Liberal Democratic Party, and in particular to the Liberal Party in the Conwy Constituency mainly between 1950 and 1999. The first group, donated in 1997, and described elsewhere, also contains some personal political papers relating to the Liberal Party, in particular to the Conwy Constituency, between 1946 and 1993. These include newsletters, leaflets, various publications, manifetstos, policy and constitutional papers, annual reports, newspaper cuttings, correspondence and minutes.

Papers of political interest, 1909-1995, including papers relating to local and general elections, in Swansea West, 1982-1983; Pontypridd, 1987; Pembroke, 1991-1992; Vale of Glamorgan, 1985-1993; papers relating to the SDP, 1983-1994, including correspondence, minutes, press releases; papers relating to the SDP/Liberal Alliance, 1987-1988; papers of the Alliance Committee for Wales, 1985-1987, including correspondence, minutes of meetings, drafts of speeches, memoranda; papers of the SDP Welsh Council, 1981-1988, including correspondence, minutes of meetings, newspaper cuttings; papers of the Welsh Regional Economic Policy Group, 1981-1982; papers of the Vale of Glamorgan SDP, including CVs of prospective candidates, 1982-1983; personal papers of Peter Sain Ley Berry, [c. 1981]-1988, including correspondence and diaries; printed material, 1977-1995, including SDP policy documents and manifestos; records of the Lloyd George Society, including correspondence, 1975-1993, and printed material, 1909-1991; papers of the Welsh Centre for International Affairs, 1986-1991; and miscellaneous material, 1968-1984. The 2003 Donation, as yet uncatalogued, comprises further papers, c. 1982-2000, relating to the SDP, including papers relating to the Hillhead bye election and miscellaneous Wales in Europe papers.

The group consists of correspondence and papers, 1988-1990, concerning the foundation and early development of the Welsh Social and Liberal Democrats following the merger of the Liberal Party and the Social Democratic Party. They include papers concerning the successful ballot to merge, the mechanics and outcome of the merger, interim arrangements, the role of various committees and sub-committees, the selection and approval of candidates, notes, reports and memoranda, agenda and minutes of meetings, and financial papers.
