The file comprises letters from Eirene Jones to her parents and brother Tristan Jones. Many were written during Continental travels and describe in some detail her experiences and activities; they include letters written at Paris, Edinburgh, Freiburg, Strasbourg, Heidelberg and Munich. There is also a small number of letters giving her initial impressions as an undergraduate student at Somerville College, Oxford, in the autumn of 1929.

The file comprises early letters during her schooldays at St Paul's Girls' School and her years as an undergraduate at Somerville College, Oxford. A few relate to the affairs of the Oxford Women's Student Association. Some are written by relatives. Later letters concern her early career, particularly her journalistic work and applications for posts. Many of the correspondents refer to Eirene Jones's candidature for Flintshire in the general election of 1945 and her subsequent election campaigns in Flintshire East.
