The file comprises drafts and copies of letters from Lady White, many of political interest, some relating to matters appertaining to the House of Lords. Others concern social functions and other events to which she was invited. There are several copies of letters which Lady White had written for publication in national newspapers, mainly The Times or The Independent. The file also includes several copies of the circular letters which she distributed to friends and acquaintances usually at Christmas. The file comprises early letters during her schooldays at St Paul's Girls' School and her years as an undergraduate at Somerville College, Oxford. A few relate to the affairs of the Oxford Women's Student Association. Some are written by relatives. Later letters concern her early career, particularly her journalistic work and applications for posts.
