Letters to Meic Stephens,

Over a hundred and thirty letters, 1962-1989, in English and Welsh, to Meic Stephens from various correspondents (surnames A-Jones). The letters, some of which include fair copies of published poems, are chiefly concerned with contemporary writing in Wales in both English and Welsh and with the recipient's work as editor of a number of volumes in this field. The correspondents include Ruth Bidgood (2, and one poem) 1985-6, Euros Bowen (4) 1978-87, Anthony Conran (8) 1962-79, Bryan Martin Davies (3, with English translations of three poems) 1974-86, Islwyn Ffowc Elis (1) 1971, Dr Gwynfor Evans (4) 1987-9, Raymond Garlick (36, and two poems) 1967-89, Emyr Humphreys (5) 1969-86, A. The file contains correspondence, 1973, accumulated by Sally Roberts Jones as secretary of the English Language Section of the Academi Gymreig. It includes letters from Alison Bielski, her co-secretary, and a letter to Ruth Bidgood offering her membership of the section. There are also letters to the Welsh Joint Education Committe regarding its use of Anglo-Welsh writing in its syllabus.

Letters to Gwyneth Lewis from publishers, writers, academics, friends, journals (including The Poetry Society, Planet, Parnassus: Poetry in Review, The Kenyon Review, The New Republic, and Poetry Wales), agents and the Arts Council of Wales concerning the publication of her volume of poetry entitled Parables and Faxes, and in particular publicity and reviews, as well as the publication of other poems by Gwyneth Lewis, and also literary prizes other literary business, as well as personal and social matters; together with typescript, photocopied and published press reviews of Parables and Faxes, related publicity material including lists of contacts for reviews and the launch, copies of other published work by Gwyneth Lewis and interviews with her, material from Bloodaxe Books (including guidance on house style, invoices for books ordered, and catalogues), lists of poems published by Gwyneth Lewis, and related notes and press cuttings.

Poems '76

The file comprises papers, [1975]-1976, relating to Poems '76, ed. Glyn Jones (Llandysul, 1976). The poems included in the anthology appeared between 1974 and 1976, though it seems they were composed, and some published, before this period. Papers, 1965, 1972, 1988-1991, mostly correspondence, relating to The Taliesin Trust, a charitable trust set up to provide a residential writers' centre for Wales to encourage and promote writing in English and Welsh, and the establishment of the Tŷ Newydd Writing Centre.
