The file contains correspondence, 1973-1974, accumulated by Sally Roberts Jones and Alison Bielski as joint secretaries of the English Language Section of the Academi. Included are letters from Richard Jones, accepting a nomination for membership of the section, from Paul Ferris declining an offer of membership, and from Jan Morris, expressing her gratitude to the Academi for the invitation to join and stating that she would understand if the invitation were to be withdrawn in view of the treatment she'd recently undergone. There is also correspondence with Meic Stephens of the Welsh Arts Council regarding the imminent appointment of a Literature Officer who will devote half his or her time to the administrating of the English Language Section of the Academi. A similar officer will be appointed for the Welsh Section. There is correspondence with Pamela Parry-Jones following her appointment to the English Language Section post in January 1974. The file also includes an application by the English Language Section for membership of International P.E.N. and a reply from them, accepting the section as members.
