The file contains corresondence, 1968-1969, accumulated by Sally Roberts Jones as secretary of the English Language Section of the Academi. The correspondence relates to the first and other early meetings of the section and includes letters and references to many prominent Anglo-Welsh and Welsh language writers including Dannie Abse, Alison Bielski, W. H. Boore, Brenda Chamberlain, Alexander Cordell, Aneirin Talfan Davies, Pennar Davies, Rhys Davies, Tom Earley, Raymond Garlick, Ll. The file contains correspondence, 1973-1974, accumulated by Sally Roberts Jones and Alison Bielski as joint secretaries of the English Language Section of the Academi. Included are letters from Richard Jones, accepting a nomination for membership of the section, from Paul Ferris declining an offer of membership, and from Jan Morris, expressing her gratitude to the Academi for the invitation to join and stating that she would understand if the invitation were to be withdrawn in view of the treatment she'd recently undergone. There is also correspondence with Meic Stephens of the Welsh Arts Council regarding the imminent appointment of a Literature Officer who will devote half his or her time to the administrating of the English Language Section of the Academi. A similar officer will be appointed for the Welsh Section. There is correspondence with Pamela Parry-Jones following her appointment to the English Language Section post in January 1974. The file also includes an application by the English Language Section for membership of International P.E.N. and a reply from them, accepting the section as members.

Letters mainly of a personal nature, including a letter concerning the Presentation Goblet to the Queen and Prince Phillip, 1972; a letter from the Royal Institute of British Architects, concerning Sir Clough Williams-Ellis's election as an honorary member; a letter from the University of Wales offering an honorary degree; and letters from the following: Sir Frederick Gibberd; Sir Frederick Osborn; Jonah Jones; James Morris; Earl Lloyd George of Dwyfor; Charles, Lord Aberconwy; Francois Spoerry; Christabel, Lady Aberconway; Augustus John; the Rt Hon. Richard Crossman, MP; Sir Dingle Foot; Henry, Marquis of Anglesey, and other politicians, artists and members of the gentry and the aristocracy, 1930-1976; together with thirteen letters from Lewis Mumford, 1957-1975, and a copy of an article by him, 1930, 'The Wavy Line Versus the Cube', and a photograph of Sir Clough Williams Ellis and Mumford.

Correspondence relating to Sir Clough Williams-Ellis's recovery after treatment in hospital due to a fall, with papers concerning Portmeirion, the republication of his books, and correspondence between his assistant and others concerning his death, the cancellation of visits and projects, and other subjects, 1977-1978. Birthday cards, telegrams, letters and thank you letters concerning Sir Clough Williams-Ellis' 90th birthday and the various celebrations; papers relating to the celebration at Portmeirion including a list of guests, the programme and invitation, photographs of the party and drafts of Sir Clough's speech, 1973; and pages from The Times, 28 May 1973. The correspondents include Henry, Marquis of Anglesey, Lord Morris of Borth-y-Gest, Robin Cooke, Jan Morris and Sir Donald Gibson.

Papers, newspaper cuttings and extracts of articles concerning various buildings and renovations by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, including the house of George Romney, the School Museum at Giant's Causeway and Nantclwyd Hall. Also included are a poem to Portmeirion, copies of replies to Jan Morris, a brochure for the sale of Oare House and an 'Old Stortfordian Newsletter', 1922, 1929, 1961-1976.
