League of Nations Union,

Correspondence and papers relating mainly to the work of the Welsh Council of the League of Nations Union. There are a large number of letters between Lord Davies and the Revd Gwilym Davies. Other correspondents include Ifan ab Owen Edwards, 1934, William George, Criccieth, 1934, and Major Edgar Jones, Barry, 1935 (2 letters).

Letters, 1899-1920, in Welsh and English, to Caradoc Mills (Sigma), Llanrwst, author of books and articles on scientific subjects, relating mainly to his published articles. The correspondents include Ifan ab Owen Edwards (1) 1920, Owen M. Edwards (23) 1900-1909 and undated, Archibald Geikie (1) 1902, Robert Owen Hughes (Elfyn) (3) 1904, Eleazer Roberts (2) 1905-1906, Principal T. F. Roberts (1) 1907, and W. W. Watts (2) 1902 and 1908. Also included is a typescript copy of the Board of Education Inspector's report on Evening Continuation Classes at Llanrwst, 1907-1908, in which reference is made to Caradoc Mills.

Most of the letters date from the 1930's. H. Elvet Lewis ('Elved'), 1938, E. Prosser Rhys, undated, Revd. D. Francis Roberts, 1936 (2 letters), Ben Bowen Thomas, 1934-38 (2 letters), Wynn P. Wheldon, 1938, and Sir Alfred Zimmern, 1936. Many of the letters concern public life in Wales and ecclesiastical and church matters, including the recipient's engagements and commitments. The file also contains notes and draft writings by Revd. Gwilym Davies, including the draft of an article by him entitled, 'The National Eisteddfod from within'.

Includes correspondence and papers relating to the political dispute between Clement Davies and Lord Davies in 1938-39, and Lord Davies's attitudes towards national politics. There are several references to the 1943 by-election in the University of Wales parliamentary division. Includes letters from the Rev. Gwilym Davies, 1942, and Ifan ab Owen Edwards, 1942 (2 letters).
