Research papers, [1970s]-1999, of Mari Ellis relating to notable Welsh women, comprising a notebook containing notes and transcripts relating to Jane Davies (daughter of Gwallter Mechain) and her family (ME 3/1); various manuscript drafts of a speech entitled 'Y Gegin a'r Parlwr. Upstairs Downstairs', some incomplete, some re-used in later drafts, etc., together with miscellaneous notes on women, [1970s]-1991 (ME 3/2); the manuscript of a speech entitled 'Family life in the [nineteenth century]' (ME 3/3); draft articles and notes on Winnie Parry, Fanny Edwards, Hester Cotton and others, [1970s]-[1980s] (ME 3/4); and papers, 1997-1999, relating to the proposed Bywgraffiadur Merched Cymru yn y Celfyddydau ['Biography of Welsh Women in the Arts'], comprising articles (about a dozen in all, including Angharad Llwyd, Marion Eames and Meg Elis), notes and correspondence with Ceridwen Lloyd-Morgan (one of the editors) (ME 3/5).

A volume, 1900-[1940s], detailing the history of the Lloyd family of Cwm Bychan, near Harlech, Merioneth, containing numerous painted coats of arms, illuminated initials and other illustrations. It was begun in 1900 by Llewelyn Lloyd and added to probably by his son Guy Ynyr Llewelyn Lloyd and other descendants.
The main body of the text (pp. 9-67) chronicles the descent of the family from the 10th century figure, Gwaethvoed Vawr (p. 9), via the lords of Nannau, Merioneth (pp. 17-39), to the Llwyds of Cwm Bychan (pp. 41-49), and then to their descendants in Flintshire, including the Rev. John Lloyd of Caerwys (pp. 52-57) and Angharad Llwyd (pp.58-59), Llewelyn Lloyd (pp. 64-65) and Guy Ynyr Llewelyn Lloyd (pp. 66-67). Successive generations, each with painted coats of arms, are recorded on a recto and additional information inserted on the verso opposite. Prefatory material (pp. v-vi, 1-8) includes heraldic devices and quotations. Items pasted into the volume include bookplates, 1747-[late 19 cent] (inside front cover, p. i), photographs of gravestones and memorials, 1899-[?1920s] (pp. 27-28, 53, 64-65), a note concerning John Lloyd, [1793x1798], possibly in the hand of Thomas Pennant (p. 56e), and pedigrees drawn up by Philip H. Lawson of Chester, 1919 (pp. 46a-d, 56a-d). Another pedigree by Lawson, 1919, found loose in the volume, is in an archival envelope. An inscription by the donors, 2006, is on p. iii.

A volume containing transcripts, 1890, by William John Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd') from Llanstephan MS 182, part i, ff. 1-25v, one of a group of manuscripts which had belonged to Angharad Llwyd (see note under 'Tarddiad'). Included are 'Llyma ossedigaethau y Dernas o waith Dyfnwal Moel Mwdd ...' (ff. 6-7v), 'Llyma y modd i ranwyd ac i mesurwyd, ac y rifwyd Cantrefydd a Chwmwdau holl Gymru, yn amser Llewelyn ap Gruffydd ...' (ff. 8-13), and an English version of 'Y pedwar brenin ar hugain cadarnaf' (ff. 51-60). Interleaved between ff. 14 and 49 is an imperfect copy, wanting title page, pp. 1-6, 68-72, of George Owen Harry, The genealogy of ... James ... king of great Brittayne ... (London, 1604), with notes by 'Gwilym Cowlyd' on f. 50 and by R. D. Roberts on ff. 13v-14, 35v, 49.

A volume made up of fourteen letters, 1819-1851, from John Jones (Tegid or Ioan Tegid, 1792-1852), Oxford and later Nevern, to various correspondents. The details are as follows: six letters, 1819-1826, to the Rev. Thomas Richards, Berriew (the education of the addressee's brother and of E. Evans [probably 'Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'], a 'cywydd' on the death of Mrs Bosanquet, literary matters, adverse criticism from the bishop of Llandaff [William van Mildert] of a proof-sheet of the edition of the Welsh Prayer Book which the writer had undertaken to superintend); four letters, 1820-1824, to the Rev. David Richards, Llansilin (the education of the addressee's younger brother [Lewis], literary matters, the addressee's marriage, etc.); one letter, 1839, to Miss Angharad Lloyd [sic] (the Liber Landavensis is now in the press, he has completed his Welsh version of Isaiah direct from the Hebrew); one letter, 1846, to Owen Williams, Waenfawr (literary matters, criticism of the addressee's proposed 'Vocabulary'); one letter, 1851, to [Ebenezer Thomas] Eben Fardd (re. adjudicating the 'pryddestau' on 'Golygfa Moses &c'); and one letter, 1850, to the Rev. Richard Richards [Meifod] (he is glad to hear of the addressee's success, a proposed monument to Bishop William Morgan and the Rev. Walter Davies (Gwallter Mechain) at Llanrhaiadr yn Mochnant, plans for a commentary in Welsh on the Epistle to the Galatians etc.). Also included in the volume are extracts, 1845, from a manuscript of Rowland Hugh 'o'r Graienyn ger y Bala' ('Brawd Nain Ioan Tegid o du ei fam oedd Rowland Hugh'), transcripts of two letters, the originals of which are to be found in Peniarth MS 11, viz. a letter, 1847, from [John Jones] Tegid, Nevern to the Lady Charlotte E. Guest and a letter, 1860, from Tho[ma]s Stephens, Merthyr Tydfil to W. W. E. Wynne, Esq., and an outline of 'Tegid's Feet [shoes] drawn at the Vicarage Darowen at the request of ?M. D. Jones, Darowen, 1836'.

Four hundred letters, 1834-1841, 1847-1848, and undated, relating to Cymdeithas Cymreigyddion y Fenni (Abergavenny Cymreigyddion Society). About half their number are addressed to Thomas Bevan ('Caradawc'), the Society's first secretary. Of the remainder some are addressed to John Evans ('Ieuan ab Gruffydd'), who succeeded Thomas Bevan as secretary, and to the Reverend John Evans, Llanover, who was chairman of the Society for more than one term and secretary from (?) April 1846 onwards, while a few are addressed to other individuals, among them Sir Benjamin Hall, Lady [Augusta] Hall, J. Hiley Morgan, Abergavenny, and the Reverend Thomas Price ('Carnhuanawc'). The matters discussed include subjects for competition, prizes, subscriptions, arrangements for the Anniversaries, etc. The letters have been rearranged slightly and renumbered and a list of the old and new series numbers has been supplied. A manuscript in the hand of Thomas Richards, Darowen containing biographical lists of eminent personages such as Biblical characters, Roman emperors, saints and bishops, Christian writers, astronomers, writers on British and Welsh history, the translators of the Bible into Welsh, etc. Among the list titles are 'Cofrestr Enwau Oedran ac amser marwolaeth y Gwyr enwog canlynol', '... enwau Astronomyddion, Beirniedyddion, Dysgedigion, Hanesyddion, Hynafieithyddion, Philosyphyddion, Rhyfelwyr a Phrydyddion, o amrywiol Genhedlaethau, y rhai a fuant fyw cyn a chwedi Genedigaeth Crist', '... amryw Ddynion hirhoedlog iawn mewn amryw Wledydd Sefyllfaodd ac amgylchiadau', '... enwau yr hen Awduron Brutanaidd ...', 'Ychydig hanes yr Awdwyr mwyaf hynod a ysgrifennasant am y Brutaniaid yn yr Ynys hon ...', '... enwau y Gwyr rhagorol, a fu yn offerynol yn Llaw Dduw i Gyfieithu'r Ysgrythur lan ir Gymraeg ...' and 'Hanes yr Ysgrifenyddion a gadwasant goffadwriaethau y Cymry, au gweithredoed[d].
