The printed matter includes an announcement, 1849, of the sale of building land on the Gloddaeth estate of the Hon. E. M. L. Mostyn, M.P.; correspondence, 1836, between the Reverend D. Among other poets represented are John Jones ('Talhaiarn'); John Blackwell ('Alun'); Roger Edwards, Mold; Robert Parry ('Robin Ddu Eryri'); Edward Roberts ('Iorwerth Glan Aled'), etc. There is also (a) a cutting, from Yr Herald Cymraeg, of a letter, 26 March 1859, from Evan James ('Ieuan ap Iago'), Pontypridd, enclosing a copy of his 'Hen Wlad fy Nhadau', the first song to be sung to the tune 'Glan Rhondda', composed by his son James James, Harp Inn, Pontypridd; (b) a photograph of Owen Wynne Jones ('Glasynys'); and (c) a transcript of a 'Carol Nadolig', with comments by S[idney] A[urelius] J[ones], Ynys, St. Asaph. The items are mounted in a volume of Kearsley's Gentleman's and Tradesman's Pocket Ledger, 1844, containing some manuscript entries.

One of four volumes comprising three hundred and sixty-four autograph letters and copies and drafts of letters of the period 1787-1930. The two main groups among them are those addressed to 'Nefydd' and Daniel Jones, but there are also two very much smaller groups of letters to Benjamin Jones ('P. A. Môn') and Benjamin Thomas, Baptist minister at Culmstock, Devon, and nephew of Joshua Thomas, Leominster. They are generally of personal, religious, or Baptist interest, although a number of letters addressed to 'Nefydd ' relate also to his educational activities. -- Among the subjects discussed in MSS 7163-6 are British Schools at Penmorfa, Llandygwydd, Devynnock, Llandilo, Abertillery, Llantrisant, Cwmdare, and Five Roads, Llanelly, and appeals for financial assistance for the Baptist churches at Caernarvon, Tenby, Cwmsarnddu, Llanfyllin, and Stanhope Street, Liverpool. Letters from America are chiefly of a denominational character. David Thomas, Llwyn, discusses the reaction in Carmarthenshire to the French Revolution and refers to meetings held at Carmarthen and Llandovery to pledge loyalty to the Government and to burn an effigy of Tom Paine. An album of annotated autographs, photographs and engravings, printed matter, press cuttings, etc., compiled during the years 1858-1881. The volume is almost entirely devoted to persons who were prominent in the literary and musical life of Wales during this period, and it appears from internal evidence to have been well known to the compiler's friends and contemporaries. The autographs are largely in the form of personal entries, recorded mainly at national and other eisteddfodau, but there are also a number of mounted holograph letters, 'cut-out' signatures from holograph letters, and franks. Grug, and R[hys] G[och] Eryri; comments on the need for a better grammar of the Welsh language which, inter alia, would pay attention to 'dialectical peculiarities'; a list of seven topics or subject or chapter headings for 'Historical Dissertations on the Ancient British Bards and Druids, etc.'; chronological computations concerning the possibility of a certain Dafydd Jones, a native of Cardigan, having seen, circa 1530 or 1540, an elderly woman who remembered another elderly woman who had seen D[afydd] ab Gwilym; groups of, or notes on, Welsh words; etc. Notes in two instances have been written on the verso and margins of a printed circular announcing the printing of Edward Williams's two volumes of English poems entitled Poems Lyric and Pastoral (202 + 211) and of a printed copy of the resolutions of a meeting of gentlemen and woolgrowers of the county of Glamorgan held at Cowbridge, 16 April 1806, when it was resolved to establish a wool fair for the said county to be held at Cowbridge in July (unnumbered pages between p. 317 and p. 318 and p.319 and p. 320).

There are also two letters from [Sir] C[harles] B[eaumont] Phipps, Windsor Castle, for H.M. The Queen, to Charles Hughes, publisher, Wrexham, 1863.
Among the subjects discussed, apart from 'Owain Alaw's musical interests and the dedication of his publications, are 'Gwallter Mechain's letters (by Jane Davies) and the proposed biography of Hugh Jones ('Erfyl) (by Morris Davies). Also included among the letters is a printed song - 'The Welcome Home, sung by the children of the Rhos-y-Medre and Rhosllanerchrugog National Schools on the occasion of the birth of an heiress to the noble House of Wynnstay', 1865.
