A volume entitled 'Casgliad o Psalmau a Hymnau' in the hand of Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'; 1795-1855). The collection contains psalms numbered 1-150, with many omissions, and 443 hymns, of which 424 are numbered. The authors include Edmwnd Prys, Isaac Watts, John Hughes, Pontrobert, Richard Jones, Wern, Llanfrothen, William Williams, Pantycelyn, James Hughes, London, David Charles, Carmarthen, Edward Jones, Maes-y-plwm, David Thomas ('Dafydd Ddu Eryri'), Ann Griffiths, Thomas Charles, Bala, David Jones, Cynwyl Gaeo, Morgan Rhys, Llanfynydd, David Williams, Llandeilo-fach, Titus Lewis, Carmarthen, Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'), John Elias ('o Fôn'), John Roberts, Llangwm, Peter Jones ('Pedr Fardd'), William Edwards, Bala, John Thomas, Pentrefoelas, Morgan Llwyd ('o Wynedd'), John Williams, Pantycelyn, William Griffiths, Glandwr, William Jones, Bala, Roger Edwards, Mold, etc. There is at the beginning an incomplete subject index to the contents of the volume ('Dangoseg o'r Prif-faterion yn y Psalmau a'r Hymnau trwy y Llyfr') in the hand of the scribe. Many of the items are to be found in the collection published by the scribe under the title of Casgliad o Salmau a Hymnau ... (Caerlleon, 1829), but the manuscript bears a closer resemblance to other editions of 'Psalms and Hymns' of the first half of the nineteenth century, notably Morris Davies, Llanfyllin: Casgliad o Salmau a Hymnau ... (Bala, 1832).

A composite volume almost entirely in the autograph of Ebenezer Thomas ('Eben Fardd') containing a few notes and pedigrees mainly of Caernarfonshire interest (Lleuar, Hafod boeth, Plas Llanwnda, notes copied from a Bible, 'Monument inscriptions in Llanfag'len', etc.); a diary of Eben Fardd for the greater part of 1838 (in four sections, January 1 - June 1, June 2 - July 21, July 26 - August 22, and October 27 - December 24 [end wanting]); two letters from Evan Evans ['Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'], Christleton, 1840 and undated, one to [Eben Fardd], the other to - Williams, and five letters from Thomas Thomas, Vicarage, Caernarfon, 1840, all to Eben Fardd (the possibility that Eben Fardd might prepare for holy orders); holograph copies of two letters from Ebenezer Thomas, Clynnog to the Reverend Hugh Owen, Trefeilir near Aberffraw, 1849 (the repercussions of the Aberffraw Eisteddfod); statistics and suggestions with regard to meetings of Sunday Schools in the Clynnog District (C.M.); an account of 'The Method of Analysing Mineral Waters' written and presented to Eben Fardd by John Pughe, Esq., Surgeon ['Ioan ap Hu Feddyg'], 'then of Cochybug, Clynnog, now of Aberdovey'; and further miscellaneous notes and pedigrees, concluding with Brondanwg and 'Ffynnon Digyw (Diguré), Coetyno and Clynnog Vawr.

Files 1-3: Transcripts of letters by Lewis and Richard Morris, mainly to Evan Evans ('Ieuan Fardd') and Dafydd Jones of Trefriw, almost all published in Hugh Owen (ed.), Additional Letters of the Morrises of Anglesey (1735-1786), Y Cymmrodor, Vol. XLIX, 1947-9, the remainder published in G. J. Williams (gol.) Llythyrau at Ddafydd Jones o Drefriw. Cylchgrawn Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru. Atodiad. Cyfres III, Rhif 2 (1942), and J. H. King Edward VII), etc. Inset is a prospectus, 1822, 'For Publishing, by Subscription, in the Welsh Language, a book called The Reformation of Wales; containing the destruction of monasterys and a correct account of several Cambri Britons who suffer'd Martyrdom ... by William Owen' (See William Owen Drych Crefyddol, Lle'rpwll, 1824). Much of the volume was probably compiled during the late 1840's, but there are additions to the early 1870s.

A volume containing holograph poetry by Evan Evans ('Ieuan Glan Geirionydd') written about 1820 and sent for correction to a mentor bearing the initials 'G. W.' [Griffith Williams ('Gutyn Peris')], who has made his amendments and critical remarks in pencil. The titles are 'Awdl ... er Coffadwriaeth am y Diweddar ... Charlotte Augusta, Merch Tywysog Cymru ... ', 'Awdl ... yn goffadwriaeth am Y Parchedig Thomas Charles B.A. o'r Bala ... ', and '[Cywydd] y Bedd'. W. J. Roberts ('G[wilym] Cowlyd') has testified (p. 46) that the contents are in the 'undoubted handwriting of 'Ieuan Glan Geirionydd''.

A commonplace book of W. J. Roberts ('Gwilym Cowlyd'). The volume belongs to the period 1902-04 and consists largely of copies of letters and some press cuttings relating to the constitution and activities of the Institutional Order of Bards of Gair Ionydd (of which 'Gwilym Cowlyd' was Chief Bard Positive), with special emphasis on the election of Primary Elders, to the request for representation at the coronation of King Edward VIII, and to the election of English bards to membership of the Order. There is also correspondence relating to bardic awards made to [Rowland Williams] 'Hwfa Môn', to protests made by 'Gwilym Cowlyd' against the holding of an organ recital at St Grwst's Church, Llanrwst, and against the renovation of the altar, to a proposed singing festival ('Cymanfa Goffadwriaethol') organised by Llangollen Literary Society in memory of [Evan Evans] 'Ieuan Glan Geirionydd', to the acceptance by Llanrwst Urban District Council, as a nucleus of a free library, of the books stored by 'Gwilym Cowlyd' in a separated portion of the cellar at Llanrwst Town Hall, etc. The correspondents include [Rabbi J. Mystic Babylon the Great, The Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth', enclosed in a letter to Joseph Chamberlain, 1903; a list of books and manuscripts of Dd. Evans, Llanrwst, (which 'Gwilym Cowlyd' had purchased) remaining after someone had stolen most of the collection; 'Y Cymun Apostolaidd, gyferbyniol i'r Cymun Eglwys y Cenhedloedd'; etc.

The volume contains extracts on the constitutional conflict between King Charles I and Parliament; a list of ratepayers of the parish of Christleton, Cheshire, 1835-6; lists of ecclesiastical impropriations in the dioceses of St Asaph and Bangor; rules of music ('Things prohibited', etc.); orders of the Trustees of Jno. Seller's Charity in Christleton, 1787; poetry by 'Ieuan Glan Geirionydd' ('A mi un diwrnod teg o Vai...') (dated 'Glan Llyn Geirionydd Mai 1853'); lists of benefices in the dioceses of St Asaph and Bangor arranged according to valuation (under £100, above £100 and under £200, etc.); lists of incumbents and 1st and 2nd wardens [of the parish of Ince, Cheshire], 1773-1846 (with gaps); a transcript of a bill of sale, by way of mortgage, of a saddler's stock-in-trade, book debts, household furniture, etc. in Llanrwst, 1871, together with a notice thereof to the bailiff of the county court of Denbighshire held at Llanrwst; gardening and orchard accounts and memoranda and plans of planting, 1843-7 and undated; an undated list of books sent to be rebound and repaired; a mortgage to the Blaenau Festiniog New Benefit Building Society of leasehold property along the road from Festiniog to Rhiwbryfdir, 1861; etc. The insets include an adjudication on 'englynion' by 'Gwilym Cowlyd'; and a transcript of a mortgage of lands in the parish of Gwytherin, Denbighshire, 1873. On the inside upper cover is written in pencil a hymn entitled 'Codiad y Wawr' ('Cydunwn yn awr...'). Watermark: 1826.

A small notebook bearing the name of 'Evan Evans, Trefriw, Carnarvonshire' [i.e. 'Ieuan Glan Geirionydd'; 1795-1855] containing Welsh, Greek and Latin vocabularies. The cover appears to be part of printed proposals for a Family Bible, 1814, and the contents appear to be of about the same date.
