A fragment (a few pages) in the hand of D. Silvan Evans, including verses entitled 'Angladd y Milwr .... . Cyvieithad o Linellau Wolfe ar Farwolaeth Syr Ioan Moore a syrthio[dd] yn Mrwydr Corunna 1808', dated at Pencader, 17 February 1843 (with a later note on another translation by Joseph Hughes ('Carn Ingli')) (cf D. Silvan Evans, Blodau Ieuainc (Aberystwyth, 1843), pp. 27-8), 'Gwerddonau Llion' (gan Mrs Hemans) dated at Llanarth [Cardiganshire], 9 July 1844, etc.; and 'The Affinity of the Welsh and some of the Modern Languages of Europe. One of eight volumes consisting of several hundred letters, chiefly of the first half of the nineteenth century, written mainly to John Jenkins and his wife, to Walter Davies and his daughter Jane, and to John Vaughan (Penmaen Dyfi) and other members of his family, by numerous correspondents, including: George Vance, John, Mary, and Jane Vaughan (Penmaen Dyfi), William V. Vernon, Elijah Waring, David Williams (Ystradmeurig), D. T. Eliezer Williams, it had revived his desire to become acquainted with the Welsh language and literature, intends applying himself to the subject as soon as his present work was finished, requests addressee to take charge of his subscription of a sovereign, his high opinion of the work). Letters and papers relating to the Reverend Peter Williams (1723-96), including two holograph letters, 19 May 1789 and 27 June 1789, fom Peter Williams writing from Carmarthen and Gelly to his son, the Reverend Eliezer Williams at Lord Galloway's, Galloway House, Scotland; a holograph sermon in Welsh by Peter Williams on Isa. 63, 4; other holograph items consisting of verses headed 'Antichristian Tradition' and (?) part of a poem entitled 'Babilon's fall', part of a draft of a letter to Mr Jones of Llan Gan, a draft of a letter concerning bull-baiting, a draft of a letter [?1777] to [Lady Huntingdon], and drafts of a letter to [ ] praying that a day of humiliation be appointed and of a letter to an unnamed person inviting him to subscribe to the writer's edition of Cann's Bible; a letter, 1834, from William Jones, [Llan Engan], to an unnamed person containing references to the persecution and excommunication of Peter Williams; a notebook in the autograph of Peter Bailey Williams containing a 'Copy of a Letter from the late Reverend Peter Williams to the Methodist Association about 1793', a letter (copy) from [Peter Williams] 'to the Revd Mr Jones of Llan Gann. Unrelated items include letters to J. H. Davies from F. W. Bussell, Wimbledon, 1921, A. J. C. Guimaraens, London, 1924, John T. Jôb, Abergwaun, 1924, and Walter Spurrell, Carmarthen, 1915, a letter, undated, from Eluned [Morgan], Cardiff to an unnamed correspondent, and a letter, [19]17 from Rich[ar]d T. Greer, Llanbadarn, to [ ] Vaughan. There is also a press-cutting concerning Dafydd Jones o Drefriw.

A volume containing material relating to the Reverend Peter Williams (1723-96), Gellilednais, Llandyfaelog consisting almost entirely of transcripts of letters, 1783-94 and undated, written by him to his sons Eliezer Williams (1754-1820) and Peter Bailey Williams (1763-1836) (see Gomer Morgan Roberts: Bywyd a Gwaith Peter Williams (Caerdydd, 1943), Atodiad VI, pp. 203-16). The transcripts were made on 27-28 February, 1896.

Transcripts of fifteen letters, 1783-94, from the Reverend Peter Williams (1723-96) to his sons, Eliezer Williams and Peter [Bailey] Williams (see also Cwrtmawr MS 181A). The originals of thirteen of the letters are to be found in NLW MS 18262E and the original of one letter, dated 19 May 1789, is in Cwrtmawr MS 940B.

A mutilated volume entitled 'Liber Miscellanorum' containing quotations, extracts, and transcripts of poetry and prose from printed sources, e.g. [Edward] Young: A Paraphrase on part of the Book of Job; 'Milt. Lib. III. Ver. I', being a translation into Latin verse by 'Mr. Dobson' of John Milton: Paradise Lost, ll. 1-55; verses 'Translated From the French By the Rev'd Moses Browne, Vicar of Olney'; 'Fas est et ab hoste doceri' and other extracts in the hand of Eliezer Williams (1754-1820), Vicar of Lampeter, etc.; 'Orsabrin and Meginella from Sir John Suckling's Goblins, Act. 3'; 'Epilogue to the New Tragedy of Semiramis by Sheridan'; a letter in the hand of St George Armstrong Williams (condolence, comments on the Tractarians and on a proposal for church unity); etc.

A volume of transcripts by St George Armstrong Williams of letters by 'Myrddin' [i.e. the Reverend Eliezer Williams] in Seren Gomer, 21-28 May, 11, 25 June, and 6-27 August 1814, 'Cywydd y Winwydden' by 'E. Llanbedr. Chwef. 1815', of 'Pennillion ar ddechreuad Sosiniaeth yn Lloegr. 1790' [translated by] 'E. W.' (printed in Peter Williams: Tafol Gywir I Bwyso Sosiniaeth ... (Caerfyrddin, 1792), pp. 47-8), 'An Epitaph upon an Astronomer' ('Rhyfeddol mewn rhifyddiaeth ...'), and 'On the Harp new tuned' ('Eos wanwyn yn seinio ...').

A composite volume of sermons, 1809-12 and undated, with introductory prayers, by the Reverend Eliezer Williams. Among them are a sermon, 1809, on the Jubilee [of the accession of George III], and a sermon preached at 'Llanbedr [Lampeter, Cardiganshire], 20 September 1812.

Five note-books containing transcripts of, or extracts from, miscellaneous letters and other items including:- (a) Letters from [the Reverend] John Elias from Llanfechell, to David Ellis, London, 1801-1817 (11), [ ], 1810 (2) (possibly also to David Ellis), and the Calvinistic Methodist Church meeting in London, 1808. (b) Letters from the said John Elias from Fron [Llangefni], to the Reverend Ellis Phillips, 1840 (1 + 1 by inference); and a letter from H. Lloyd Jones, Denbigh, to Edward Peters, Caergurley, near Mold, enclosing copies of a letter from John Elias to J. V[aughan] Horne, Denbigh, and of Mr. Horne's reply thereto, 1840. (c) Letters from [the Reverend] D[avid] Charles [1], Carmarthen, to the Reverend D[avid] Griffiths [vicar of Nevern], 1812, and Miss P[hilli]ps [ Haverfordwest], 1791; [Lady] A[nn] A[gnes] Erskine, Spa-Fields [London], to the Reverend [Thomas] Charles, Bala, 1801; [the Reverend] D[avid] Griffith, [vicar of] Nevern, to [the aforesaid Reverend David Charles, Carmarthen], 1813; [the Reverend] Peter Williams, Gelly [Lednais, parish of Llandyfaelog], to his son the Reverend Eliezer Williams in Scotland, 1791; and [the Reverend] W[illiam] Williams, Pantycelyn, to Sally [Jones, Bala], 1776, and his son [? William Williams], 1786. The originals of the letters in this section are now with the correspondence in the Bala College Group of manuscripts and documents amongst the C.M. archives in the National Library of Wales. (d) Letters from [the Reverend] Rowl[an]d Hill, Wotton Underedge, to the Reverend D[avid] Charles [1], Carmarthen, 1817; Tho[ma]s Jones, Mold, to the Reverend [Thomas] Charles, Bala, 1801; Matthew Lewis, Carmarthen, to Howel Harris, Trevecka, near Talgarth, 1739; and [the Reverend] Tho[ma]s Scott to the Reverend Thomas Charles, Bala, 1789. The originals of these four letters also are to be found in the aforementioned Bala College Group of manuscripts and documents. (e) The certificate issued to David Edwards of Bala, 17 January 1800, on his subscribing to the oaths denoted in the 'Act for the further relief of Protestant Dissenting Ministers . . .', a draft copy of the proposals for ordaining Calvinistic Methodist ministers [in 1811], and a copy of the questions put to candidates nominated for ordination. The original certificate and the copies of the ordination proposals and questions from which the present transcripts were made are in the aforementioned Bala College Group of documents. Copies of, or extracts from, many of the above letters (English translations in the case of Welsh originals) appear in D. E. Jenkins: The Life of the Rev. Thomas Charles. . .

Two volumes of epigrams, epitaphs and other verses collected and transcribed from the papers of the Reverend Eliezer Williams by his son St George Armstrong Williams in 1836. They include translations from Horace and among the other titles are 'A Tribute of Gratitude from the Peasantry of Ayron's Vale to their Landlord for conscientiously lowering their rents', 'The Sceptic', 'Ancient & Modern authors', 'The Topers', 'Spendthrifts' 'Celia (imitated from Martial)', 'Laura', 'Stale jests against matrimony', 'The National Debt', 'On a Drunkard', 'Translator', 'On a little Fellow (from the Greek)', 'On a noted Liar', 'Occassioned by some illiberal reflections thrown on Dr Johnson's memory', 'The Miser', 'Gluttony', 'On Lieut. Price's defence of th Islands of Marçon', 'On a late proposition to Great Britain of an Armistice by sea', 'On the capture of the 'Guillaume Tell'', 'On Lieut. Burke's cutting out several armed Vessels from French and Spanish Harbours', 'On a sailor who refused to give his money to a Highwayman that stopped the Dover Stage Coach', 'On a sailor who took an Ass to the Play house at Sheerness', etc. MS 61, which is mutilated, also contains an 'Extract of a Letter from Lampeter, dated 21 Decr. 1816' describing a trial at the Town Hall, Lampeter, of 'several young gentlemen of the Seminary at that place' on the charge of maltreating and murdering 'several of the offspring of one Terence'.
