‘Letters and papers relating to the manor of Nantyarian’

Papers deriving from the claim of Pryse Pryse to the lordship or manor of Nantyrarian, Cardiganshire, disputed by the Crown which asserted its right within the surrounding lordship of Perfedd, 1745-1867. The file contains correspondence with the Office of Woods and Forests, 1833-1834; earlier letters from George Jones of Rhoskillan (Rhoscellan) to John Hedley at Dyffryn Melindwr, 1745, and Thomas Lloyd of Abertrinant to Mr Waller, which also mentions a shipwreck in the lordship of Genau’r-glyn, 1747; an agreement for a mining lease by the trustees of Thomas Pryse’s will, 1754; a case investigating the attendance of inhabitants of Nantyrarian at the manorial court of Perfedd, 1756, citing the actions of Lewis Morris in 1746; a sketch taken in 1833 from a map by Lewis Morris; an account of fines in the court leet of Perfedd, 1756, a court leet presentment from the manor of Nantyrarian, 1833; and a demand for rent on an encroachment in the manor of Perfedd, 1867.
