David Davies: Letters,

Letters, 1928-49, to David Davies, later Lord Davies, together with some replies. The letters cover a wide range of subjects, including educational matters in Wales, Davies's researches and writings, Lloyd George's War Memoirs, Lord Davies's domestic arrangements, and agricultural matters and the National Farmers' Union. The correspondents include Sir George Hamer, 1944, Professor Charles Webster, Aberystwyth, 1928, Wynn P. Wheldon, Bangor, 1928. There are also a few personal papers including an inventory of Lord Davies's effects at his flat at Thorney House, London, 3 December 1934.

Most of the letters date from the 1930's. H. Elvet Lewis ('Elved'), 1938, E. Prosser Rhys, undated, Revd. D. Francis Roberts, 1936 (2 letters), Ben Bowen Thomas, 1934-38 (2 letters), Wynn P. Wheldon, 1938, and Sir Alfred Zimmern, 1936. Many of the letters concern public life in Wales and ecclesiastical and church matters, including the recipient's engagements and commitments. The file also contains notes and draft writings by Revd. Gwilym Davies, including the draft of an article by him entitled, 'The National Eisteddfod from within'.
